Three individuals were arrested for allegedly catching a 9-year-old child stealing and tying him up with a rope at a neighborhood market in Sarıyer, Istanbul. The suspects are being charged with "child abduction," while the child has been placed under protection.
Three suspects were detained in relation to the incident where a child, accused of theft at a neighborhood market in Sarıyer, was tied up and filmed, with the footage shared on social media.
A 14-year-old child, who stole a tracksuit from one of the stalls at a market in Istanbul, was caught by a shopkeeper when he returned to the market for the second time.
THEY CAUGHT AND TIED UP A 9-YEAR-OLD CHILD
The shopkeeper who tied the child up released him after taking back the stolen tracksuit. While the moments were recorded second by second on a mobile phone, the shopkeeper described the events by saying, "We caught him. I told him, 'I will make you born again.' He said, 'Bro, the tracksuit is over there by the ATMs.' He brought it, and we sent him off."
TEAMS SPRANG INTO ACTION
Teams from the Istanbul Provincial Police Department took action after the footage of the child being caught and tied up was shared on social media.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the 9-year-old child returned the stolen items immediately after being caught by the market shopkeepers.
THE PRICE WAS HIGH
Regarding the incident, R.M. (44), A.A. (43), and A.G. (34) were detained. The suspects, who were processed for the crime of "detaining a child," were taken to the police station. It was learned that the child was placed under protection by the authorities.
