In Lebanon, Hezbollah supporters protested against the statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump's Assistant Special Representative for the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus, regarding Hezbollah.
PROTEST BY HEZBOLLAH SUPPORTERS
According to the Lebanese official agency NNA, a large number of Hezbollah supporters gathered in front of the Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut to hold a major demonstration. The demonstrators, carrying Hezbollah flags and photos of their former leader Hassan Nasrallah, reacted to Ortagus's statements regarding Hezbollah. The protesters chanted slogans in favor of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem.
WHAT DID ORTAGUS SAY?
After meeting with President Joseph Aoun at the Baabda Palace in Beirut, U.S. President Donald Trump's Assistant Special Representative for the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus, made a statement to the press. Ortagus stated, "I have never seen Lebanese people in the U.S. and around the world so enthusiastic about the future of their country. I believe this is largely due to Hezbollah's defeat by Israel." Ortagus, who said, "Thank you to Israel for defeating Hezbollah," claimed that the Lebanese people and President Aoun also had a role in this event.
DAVID STAR RING WORN
Ortagus noted that everyone, including Nevvaf Salam, who was tasked with forming the government in Lebanon, is "determined to end corruption," while claiming that "Hezbollah will not be part of the government in any way." It was observed that Ortagus, who shook hands with Lebanese President Aoun, was wearing a ring featuring the "Star of David," a symbol of Israel, which sparked reactions on social media.
