In Istanbul, the dam occupancy rate rose to 70.53% with recent rainfall, with the total water volume measured at 611 million cubic meters. AKOM stated that the heavy rainfall effective across the Marmara region is expected to continue intermittently until Friday.

The recent rainfall that has been effective in Istanbul has positively reflected on the dam occupancy rates. While the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Affairs Department (AKOM) issued a warning against the expected heavy rainfall in the megacity, the increase in the current water level in the dams drew attention.

According to data from ISKI, the overall dam occupancy rate in Istanbul reached 70.53%. The total amount of water in the dams was measured as 611 million cubic meters. The rainfall that has been effective recently has directly contributed to the city's water reserves.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING ISSUED

AKOM also issued a new rainfall warning for Istanbul and the Marmara Region. Due to the effect of a cold and rainy air wave coming from the Balkans, rainfall in the city is expected to continue intermittently until Friday (April 24). Authorities requested citizens to be cautious against possible adverse conditions due to heavy rainfall.

TEMPERATURES ARE FALLING, RISING OVER THE WEEKEND

The statement indicated that air temperatures would continue to be below seasonal norms for a while. It is estimated that by the weekend, temperatures will rise again, reaching levels around 20 degrees.
