On September 29, around 03:30, in an apartment located on 4312 Street in the Yeşilyurt neighborhood of the Kepez district of Antalya, a dispute broke out between two friends, Tolga Taşkınel (23) and Süleyman Ege Sevil (29), who had started living in the same house two weeks prior. As the argument escalated, Sevil stabbed Taşkınel in the chest, while Hüseyin Emre Ç., who was present in the house at the time, fled the scene. Tolga Taşkınel, who was taken to the hospital, lost his life, while Süleyman Ege Sevil was arrested, and Hüseyin Emre Ç. was released. Süleyman Ege Sevil, who was charged with life imprisonment, appeared before the Antalya 5th High Criminal Court for the first time. The parties and their lawyers were also present in the courtroom.
"I TOOK BACK THE 4 THOUSAND LIRA HE TOOK FROM MY WALLET"
The defendant Sevil, who stated that he accidentally killed the victim, said, "On the day of the incident, Tolga woke up in the morning and said he wanted to go outside. We went to the shopping mall together, wandered around a bit. Then the two of us went to Zeytinköy. I knew that Tolga was a drug addict. I even told him that he shouldn't use it at home. In the evening, I was sleeping in my room at home. I noticed that Tolga entered my room. He took money from my wallet. Then we started arguing. I took back the 4 thousand lira he had taken. Just as I was about to turn and leave, he attacked me from behind and put me in a chokehold. To escape, I grabbed the knife that was in the living room and swung it. When I realized he was injured, our friend Hüseyin Emre Ç. who was in the house fled. I called the police and ambulance. I applied a tourniquet to his wound. However, he had already died. I didn't mean to kill Tolga. I am very sorry," he said.
"I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT THOSE WHO KILLED MY SON"
Ayşe Yaman, the mother of Tolga Taşkınel, stated that her son did not use drugs, saying, "Tolga was already under supervision. My son was receiving drug treatment at AMATEM. Blood tests are also done there. Three days before the incident, he came to Bodrum to see me. I know he didn't use drugs because his face would change color when he did. I am complaining about those who killed my son," she said. The court decided to continue the defendant's detention and postponed the hearing.
