While the investigation into the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır is ongoing, Hediye Güran, one of the suspects who was later released, made statements during a live broadcast. Güran stated that Narin's mother, Yüksel Güran, was a very devoted mother to her children, saying, "She would not sacrifice Narin for Enes."
While the investigation into the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır continues, Hediye Güran, who was among the suspects and later released, made striking statements during a live broadcast.
"SHE WON'T SACRIFICE NARIN FOR ENES"
When asked about the allegations that they are hiding Narin's killer to protect Enes Güran, Hediye Güran stated that Yüksel Güran is a mother who is very fond of her children, saying, "She is a mother who would give her life for her children. I don't believe she would protect Enes. She wouldn't sacrifice Narin for Enes. If Enes had killed Narin, Yüksel would have said so. Even if Narin had been accidentally killed, Yüksel would have said it."
Accusing one of the suspects in the murder, Nevzat Güran, Hediye Güran expressed, "I think Nevzat, who put Narin in a bag and buried her, is the killer."
SHARED THE CONVERSATION THAT TOOK PLACE IN PRISON
Hediye Güran, who recounted her conversations with Narin's mother Yüksel Güran during her time in prison, said that Yüksel wanted her daughter's killers to be found every day. "She would say to me, 'Let my daughter's killer be found; I would serve a lifetime here if necessary,'" Güran added that Yüksel lamented for her daughter in prison.
WHAT HAPPENED ON THE DAY NARIN DISAPPEARED?
Hediye Güran provided statements regarding the day Narin was last seen leaving a course, saying she went to Yüksel Güran's house at 4:00 PM, but Narin was not home. "I was at the house for two hours and did not see Narin at all," said Hediye Güran, adding that Yüksel Güran mentioned that Narin would go to her uncles that day.
PENALTIES GIVEN TO THE DEFENDANTS
In the decision hearing of the case held at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court on December 28, 2024, the detained defendants, mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran, were each sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "intentional murder of a child in participation," while Nevzat Bahtiyar received a 4-year and 6-month prison sentence for "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime."
CHILDREN WILL ALSO APPEAR IN COURT
The investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the murder of Narin Güran has been completed for three children. The indictment prepared by the prosecutor's office against the children R.A. (16), M.G. (16), and İ.K. (17) was accepted by the 2nd Children's Court. The three children will appear before a judge on March 20.
REQUEST FOR CONSOLIDATION
In the procedural order, a request was made to consolidate the case with the one opened against 12 defendants, 6 of whom are detained, by the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance.
The request included the following statements:
"It has been understood that the indictment prepared against the older suspects outside the case, who are alleged to have committed the same crime within the scope of the same incident, has been referred to the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance and recorded in the file after the acceptance decision of the indictment. In light of the legal, personal, and factual connections between the files, it has been concluded that it would be more beneficial in terms of ensuring consistency in judgment and procedural economy to prevent the erosion of trust in the judiciary by establishing conflicting judgments against individuals alleged to have committed the same crime, and therefore, it has been decided to ask for consent regarding the consolidation of the files in accordance with Article 17/3 of the Child Protection Law."
"CRIME OF PROTECTING THE GUILTY"
The investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding 12 suspects, 6 of whom are detained, in connection with the murder of Narin Güran has been completed. The indictment prepared by the prosecutor's office against the detained defendants Birsen, Fuat, and Maşallah Güran, Salim Güran's worker Mehmet Selim Atasoy, Mehmet Şevket Kaya, and Muhammed Kaya, as well as the suspects not in detention Şeyma Kaya, Hediye Güran, İbrahim Halil Güran, Barış Güran, Kurtuluş Güran, and Ömer Faruk Güran, for the crime of "protecting the guilty," has been submitted to the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance, seeking prison sentences ranging from 6 months to 5 years.
