A striking document has emerged in the investigation into the suspicious death of former Minister of Transport Arif Ahmet Denizolgun. It was determined that Doctor Nurettin Demirkol, who stated in his testimony that he did not know who had made the emergency call years ago, personally called the 155 Police Emergency line on the night of September 8, 2016. In the call resolution record, it was seen that Demirkol introduced himself as "I am Doctor Nurettin Demirkol" and reported the death as an "unexpected, suspicious sudden death."
In the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the death of former Minister of Transport Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, the resolution record of the emergency call report made years ago was added to the case file.
It was learned that Doctor Nurettin Demirkol, who gave a statement within the scope of the investigation, stated that he did not know who made the emergency call on the date of the incident. However, the Resolution Record of the 155 Emergency Call Report dated September 8, 2016, revealed that the person who made the call was Demirkol himself.
“I AM DOCTOR NURETTIN DEMIRKOL”
According to the record, the first phone call took place at *00.29*. After the 155 operator answered the phone, the caller clearly introduced himself with the words “I am Doctor Nurettin Demirkol.” Demirkol then told the operator that a patient for whom he was the family physician had suddenly passed away.
According to the statement recorded in the call report, Demirkol said, “I have a patient for whom I am the family physician, he has died suddenly. The government physician needs to see him. Perhaps the cause of death is not clear; the judge and the prosecutor need to see him.”
HE SAID THE CAUSE OF DEATH WAS NOT CLEAR
The 155 operator asked Demirkol for the address where the incident occurred. Demirkol said the location was Öğümce Village in Beykoz Riva, but stated that he did not know the exact full address.
Upon evaluating that the area might be under the jurisdiction of the gendarmerie, the operator asked Demirkol to contact the 156 Gendarmerie line. The first phone call ended this way. However, Demirkol called 155 for a second time just a few minutes later.
HE CALLED 155 AGAIN 4 MINUTES LATER
According to the call resolution record, the second conversation began at *00.33*. Demirkol again clearly introduced himself and said, “I called a little while ago, Doctor Nurettin Demirkol. Regarding someone who passed away...”
Demirkol stated that he had spoken to the gendarmerie, but was told that the area was under police jurisdiction, and requested help from 155 again.
THE OPERATOR ASKED: “IS THERE A SUSPICIOUS DEATH ISSUE HERE?”
The most striking part of the conversation occurred when the 155 operator asked about the nature of the death. The operator asked Demirkol, “Is there a suspicious death issue here?”
Demirkol's answer was recorded as follows: “Suspicious, an unexpected sudden death; unexpected, suspicious sudden death.”
Thus, it also emerged that Demirkol, in his call on the night of the incident, described the death not only as a “sudden death” but directly as a *“suspicious death”*.
“THE PROSECUTOR NEEDS TO SEE IT”
Another statement used by Demirkol in the first conversation also drew attention for the investigation. Doctor Demirkol stated that the cause of death was not clear and used the expressions “the judge and prosecutor need to see it”**.
After receiving the address information, the 155 operator also created the record to direct the teams to the scene. At the end of the conversation, the operator said that if the location could not be found, they would reach Demirkol via the phone number he used during the call.
Demirkol replied, “Okay, we are waiting, sir.” It was also reflected in the record that Demirkol said “I got through” in response to a question from someone in the background asking, “Brother, did you get through?”
THE CONTRADICTION BETWEEN HIS STATEMENT AND THE 155 RECORD UNDER SCRUTINY
Although Demirkol, who gave a statement within the scope of the investigation, stated that he did not know who made the emergency call years ago, it was seen in the official 155 call resolution record that he introduced himself by name in both phone calls.
Additionally, the facts that Demirkol said the cause of death was not clear, stated that the prosecutor needed to deal with the incident, and described the death twice as a “suspicious, unexpected sudden death” were among the notable details in the investigation.
