Holiday bonuses for retirees have been given twice a year since 2018. Retirees will also receive holiday bonuses this year in March and June. Ramadan Feast will be celebrated from March 30 to April 1, and the Sacrifice Feast will be celebrated from June 6 to 9. LAST YEAR THEY RECEIVED 3 THOUSAND LIRAThe first holiday bonuses for retirees are expected to be deposited into their accounts by Friday, March 28. The exact date for the payments will be announced by the Social Security Institution. The holiday bonus was 1000 lira for each holiday in 2018, 1100 lira in 2021, 2000 lira in 2023, and 3000 lira in 2024. NEW RETIREES WILL ALSO RECEIVEThose who retire this year will also receive a holiday bonus. According to Hazal Ateş from Cnbc-e; for those receiving death pensions from both spouses and parents, the bonus will be paid based on the file with the higher death pension. For example, if a widow receives a pension from both her father and husband, and the percentage of the pension she receives from her husband is 50%, while the percentage from her father is 25%, her bonus (if it is 4000 lira for each holiday) will be 2000 lira, making the total amount for two holidays 4000 lira. RETIREES AND DISABLED PERSONS RECEIVE FULL AMOUNTRetirees and disabled persons receive the holiday bonus in full. If a retiree has passed away, the entitled spouse and children also benefit from the bonus. These individuals benefit from the bonuses in proportion to their shares. Payments are distributed according to the share ratios. If the deceased retiree's pension is only received by the spouse and the share ratio is 75%, the holiday bonus payment to the spouse (if it is 4000 lira) will be 3000 lira, totaling 6000 lira for two holidays. If the spouse has a 50% share and two children have 25% shares each (if it is 4000 lira), the spouse's bonus will be 2000 lira for the first holiday, and the children's will be 1000 lira each. In this case, 4000 lira will be paid to the spouse and 2000 lira to the children twice a year. NO APPLICATION REQUIREDNo job application is needed for the holiday bonus. The bonuses for retirees, disabled, widows, and orphans are paid directly into the accounts from which they receive their monthly pensions, without the need for an application. Those who have suffered work accidents and receive permanent incapacity income also receive the bonus. Payments in this category are calculated based on the rate of permanent incapacity. If a person's incapacity is determined to be 50% (if it is 4000 lira), a holiday bonus of 2000 lira will be paid. INCREASED PENSIONS HAVE STARTED TO BE PAIDThe increased pensions for retirees have started to be deposited into accounts as of 2025. SSK retirees will receive their increased pensions starting January 17, while Bağ-Kur retirees will have theirs deposited starting January 25. The lowest pension for retirees was raised to 14,469 lira last week with a legal regulation made by the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Commission. The Parliament will go on holiday until January 28, and the General Assembly phase of the legal regulation has been postponed until after the holiday. Therefore, the lowest pensions for retirees were deposited into accounts as 12,500 lira, while the difference of 1,969 lira will be deposited into accounts in February after the regulation is published in the Official Gazette. BANK PROMOTIONS HAVE ALSO INCREASEDAlong with retiree pensions, bank promotions have also increased. Banks have redefined the promotion amounts based on the pensions received by retirees. Retirees who previously received promotions have the right to cancel their existing contracts and negotiate new amounts. Promotions for retirees can reach up to 20,000-24,000 lira, and SGK will also hold discussions with banks. SGK's promotion negotiations are expected to be completed by the beginning of March. The institution announces the promotion amounts to be made according to the monthly intervals based on the discussions held with banks each year. Those who have completed three years can sign a new commitment and receive their money. Banks can make payments above the protocol signed with SGK at their discretion.
