Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a statement regarding the possibility of another war, said, "We do not want war, but the U.S. and Israel want to divide Iran. If they attack, we will stand against them with all our strength. We are not afraid of war, because in such a situation, internal unity and solidarity will emerge even more strongly."
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, answered journalists' questions on state television. Pezeshkian emphasized that they have never sought war from the past to the present, stating, "Since the first day of the revolution, enemies have carried out terrorist acts, planned coups, and tried to divide the country. This is not new for us. Today, they thought that based on their analyses and plans, even artificial intelligence, Iran was in its weakest position. According to them, if they attacked, the people would take to the streets on the second or third day, and then the system, the revolution, and the country would collapse."
"THE PURPOSE OF MY CANDIDACY WAS TO INCREASE PARTICIPATION"
Explaining his reasons for running for the presidency, Pezeshkian said, "I ran not to become president, but to ensure the people's participation in the process. Because the absence of the people on the stage is a weakness for a society. If we can include the people in the process, if we can live together with the people and for the people, we will be stronger. Otherwise, the takeover of power by a single group does not benefit the country."
"THE ENEMY THOUGHT THE PEOPLE WOULD TAKE TO THE STREETS"
Pezeshkian drew attention to the expectations of the enemies, saying, "They thought the people were dissatisfied. First, they targeted our borders, then they tried to infiltrate from various points and attacked our security forces. Their calculation was that the people would take to the streets and no one would be able to stop them. According to them, the issue would be resolved quickly. However, such scenarios are not new for us."
"IRAN BELONGS TO ALL PEOPLE, NOT A GROUP"
Emphasizing the importance of unity and solidarity within the country, the President stated that his greatest goal since the election process has been social consensus, saying, "Iran does not belong to a specific group or segment. No one can say, 'This country is mine.' Iran belongs to all our people. If we can achieve unity and solidarity within the country, we will have an unending power. When the people stand side by side, no power can easily set its sights on the country. My duty is to set aside conflicts and promote unity and solidarity in the country."
"WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF WAR"
Responding to a question about the possibility of another war, Pezeshkian said, "The enemy did not take into account that Iran would stand firm. They thought that if a war broke out, they would finish the job, but this country did not collapse as they predicted. We do not want war, but the US and Israel want to divide Iran. If they attack, we will stand against them with all our might. We are not afraid of war because, in such a situation, internal unity and solidarity will emerge even more strongly."
"US POLICIES ARE BUILT ON LIES"
Criticizing the US's regional policies, Pezeshkian said, "The US first incites ethnic groups. If that doesn't work, it pits countries against each other, and if that doesn't yield results, it directly intervenes. While it presents an attractive face to the outside, there is a devilish reality behind it. When looked at closely, it is seen that women, children, the elderly, and the sick are ruthlessly killed. Despite this, they address the people with slogans of democracy and claim to bring freedom. So, if the US claims to bring freedom, why does it unleash these disasters on women and children in Gaza, Palestine, Syria, and other regions? What was their crime? All of this is a lie. The process is clearly evident. The US will not abandon these policies. But if we maintain unity and solidarity in our country, they will not dare easily, because the cost will be very high for them."
Responding to a question about the decision to activate the snapback mechanism, which allows European countries to reintroduce United Nations sanctions against Iran and is known in the public as the "trigger mechanism," Pezeshkian said, "We definitely do not want the activation of the snapback. However, it is unacceptable for European countries, which violate many international laws, to accuse us of not complying with the rules today."
"MY MAIN CONCERN IS INTERNAL DIVISIONS"
Pezeshkian, who drew attention to internal developments rather than external pressures, stated, "My main fear is not the snapback or external threats. My main concern is the internal disagreements and cracks that arise over small issues. The enemies' hope is precisely these internal divisions."
