In a recent social media poll, Zeynep Bastık, who was voted "the sexiest living Turkish woman," made a notable post regarding the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Reacting to the police's intervention against students during protests at Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), Bastık stated, "Every citizen living in this country has the right to freedom of expression and the right to vote; they should have it."

On March 19, an investigation into 'terror' and 'corruption' was launched against the Istanbul metropolitan and district municipalities, and a detention order was issued for 106 people, including İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu. While the repercussions of the incident, in which 90 people have been detained so far, continue, famous singer Zeynep Bastık has been one of the names who did not remain indifferent to what is happening.

"EVERY CITIZEN LIVING IN THIS COUNTRY..."

Describing the actions against İmamoğlu as "lawlessness," Bastık stated, "The young people are raising their voices to prevent the lawlessness they see and experience from happening to them in the future; they are exercising their democratic rights. Every citizen living in this country has the right to freedom of expression and the right to vote, and it should be. The oppression faced by students does not suit us. There is justice. Still, for all of us," she expressed.
