Security camera footage has emerged showing suspects working at Istanbul Airport transporting two packages containing 47 kilograms of cocaine with a ground service vehicle, which arrived from abroad. Five suspects detained during the operation have been arrested.

Customs teams evaluating a tip-off observed that cocaine was smuggled into the country by personnel through boxes at the D gate of Istanbul Airport. Upon reviewing the footage, the teams identified that the individuals in question intended to smuggle drugs into the country inside the boxes. During the operation, many people were detained, including individuals identified as working for a ground services company, and 47 kilograms and 34 grams of cocaine were seized from the confiscated packages.

5 PEOPLE ARRESTED

A total of 47 kilograms and 34 grams of powder, believed to be cocaine, was seized in 2 packages at the D Gate of Istanbul Airport. The ground services personnel C.Ç. and S.A., who first took the packages from under the plane and brought them to the D Gate, were the first to be detained. Based on the statements of the two suspects, an investigation was initiated against the operation control center officer S.A., who was deemed to have given the order to take the packages, and cargo shift manager M.G. While S.A. was detained, a warrant was issued for M.G., who could not be found at his address.

A.A., who was identified as coming to receive the packages, fled the scene upon noticing the teams. A warrant was issued for one suspect who is on the run, while the father S.A. and wife G.M.A. of the fugitive suspect were detained.

2 SUSPECTS WANTED

On the day of the incident, customs officers A.E.T. and İ.Y., who were on duty at the D Gate, were also included in the investigation. The two detained officers were released under judicial control after their procedures were completed. Following the statements of the two suspects, the case was referred to the Dilucu Customs Directorate. Customs officer S.K., who was working there, was detained in Iğdır. The suspect brought to Istanbul was arrested. Efforts to capture the two fugitive suspects are ongoing. Meanwhile, it has been learned that a comprehensive investigation is underway regarding the cocaine's supply chain within the airport and the related personnel network.

On the other hand, the drug shipment was recorded by security cameras. The footage shows the moment the packages were brought to the D gate by two individuals using a ground services vehicle and placed on the turnstile. Later, a customs officer arrives at the location of the packages. At this time, the packages are seen being passed through the X-ray machine, followed by the moment they are opened. The moments when the personnel who brought the packages were detained are also captured in the footage.
