In Şanlıurfa, a reckless individual who was hanging out of a vehicle's door and firing a shotgun into the air during a wedding convoy fell from the vehicle. Gendarmerie teams, who examined the footage that surfaced on social media, captured the person red-handed.
On February 9, Sunday, in the Akçakale district of Şanlıurfa, a man with a shotgun leaned out of the open door of his car and fired into the air in the rural Pekmezli neighborhood. The individual, who was accompanied by a small child, lost his balance and fell to the ground as he leaned out of the moving car during a wedding convoy. Amidst the screams, the man, who rolled onto the road, narrowly escaped being run over by another vehicle. The individual, who sustained minor injuries, got back into the car.
FOOTAGE GAVE THEM AWAY
After the footage was shared on social media, gendarmerie teams took action and identified the suspect. The individual named H.O., who was detained in an operation conducted by the gendarmerie, was taken to the police station.
CAUGHT RED-HANDED
Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak announced that the man in the footage that surfaced on social media had been caught. In a statement on his social media account, Governor Şıldak said, "It has been determined that the images of a person leaning out of a moving vehicle with a gun in hand during a wedding convoy in the Pekmezli neighborhood of Akçakale district on February 9, 2025, were shared on social media. As a result of the work carried out by our gendarmerie, it was identified that the person in question is H.O., who was apprehended the same night. The shotgun with a detachable magazine used in the incident has been seized. Legal action has been initiated against the perpetrator under the Crime of Endangering General Security, the license for the weapon used has been revoked and its ownership transferred to the public, and additionally, an administrative fine of 2,953 TL has been imposed on the individual for the act of violating the Law on Misdemeanors. Furthermore, a total traffic fine of 12,427 TL has been imposed on the driver of the vehicle used in the incident in accordance with the relevant articles of the Highway Traffic Law. Any behavior that disrupts public order and endangers the safety of the community is being identified, and necessary sanctions are being applied to the perpetrators, ensuring they are brought to justice as quickly as possible. There will be no opportunity for the disturbance of public order and peace in any part of Şanlıurfa," he stated.
