New developments have emerged regarding the incident in Şişli, where a mother-in-law shot and killed her son's religiously wedded wife while the son was in prison. The murdered young woman's sister-in-law was also taken into custody. It was determined that the sister-in-law had taken the bride's two children out of the house some time before the incident, then left the children at home and went to a real estate agent, and after the murder, they panicked and left the real estate agent.
The blood-curdling incident occurred in Istanbul's Şişli district on Saturday, May 2, around 13:15 in Eskişehir Neighborhood. According to obtained information, it was learned that Haydarcan K. was in prison for 'Theft', and his religiously married wife Burçin Şahin (25) lived in the same house with her mother-in-law Menekşe K. (58). During an argument that broke out at home for an unknown reason, Menekşe K. fired 2 shots at Burçin Şahin's head with her unlicensed gun.
FIRED 2 SHOTS AT HER HEAD Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. During checks by medical teams, it was determined that Burçin Şahin had lost her life. Teams conducting investigations at the scene found 2 empty casings outside and 4 inside the house. It was learned that the deceased Şahin had 2 children.
SAID "MATTER OF HONOR" AND SMOKED A CIGARETTE It was alleged that after the murder, the suspect went to the window, said 'I killed my daughter-in-law, I cleansed my honor,' and smoked a cigarette for a while. It was learned that Menekşe K., taken into custody by police teams, said in her initial statement that the incident was a 'Matter of honor.' In the suspect's statement, it was learned that she said her son had been in prison for 6 years, she suspected that her son's religiously married wife Burçin Şahin was cheating on him, her suspicions increased after seeing messages on her phone on the day of the incident, and upon that, she got angry and fired 2 shots at her head with the gun at home.
Mother-in-law Menekşe K. "YOU HAVE CHILDREN, AREN'T YOU ASHAMED" It was learned that in the continuation of Menekşe K.'s statement, she said: "I said, 'How can you cheat on my son, my son is in prison. You have children, aren't you ashamed?' Then her siblings took the children and left, we were left alone at home. I said, 'How can you do this,' and she gave me a low blow reply saying 'I will do it.' Then I got angry, took the gun from the cabinet, and fired."
MOTHER-IN-LAW ARRESTED Police teams apprehended the suspect Menekşe K. with the unlicensed gun used in the incident. While the suspect, taken to the Şişli Public Order Bureau Directorate, was undergoing procedures at the police station, an investigation into the incident was launched. It was also learned that Menekşe K. had a finalized 6-year 8-month prison sentence for 'Drug trafficking.' After her procedures at the police station were completed, Menekşe K. was referred to the courthouse. Brought before the court, the suspect was arrested on charges of 'Intentional murder' and sent to prison. It was revealed that Menekşe K.'s husband, Selahattin K., died 24 years ago due to a high dose of drugs.
THEY TOOK THE 2 CHILDREN OUT OF THE HOUSE AND WENT TO A REAL ESTATE AGENT Continuing their work, Şişli Public Order Bureau teams determined that Menekşe K.'s daughters Ceylan S. (40) and Nehir K. (32) were also at home before the incident. It was stated that Ceylan S., who allegedly argued with Burçin Şahin, left the house with her sister Nehir K., taking her 2 nephews with them. It was determined that Ceylan S. and Nehir K. later left the children at a house, entered a real estate agent on the street, and sat there for a while. It was stated that when the incident occurred, the two sisters ran out of the real estate agent towards the house. The events at the real estate agent were captured on security camera.
SISTER-IN-LAW TAKEN INTO CUSTODY Following this, police teams took Ceylan S., who was at the house before the incident, into custody. It was learned that Ceylan S., whose statement was taken at the police station, said that in the morning they went to her mother Menekşe K.'s house for breakfast, her sister Nehir K. saw inappropriate photos and conversations on Burcu Şahin's phone, and an argument broke out between them over this.

Information was also obtained that sister-in-law Ceylan S. stated they took the children and mobile phone of their sister-in-law Şahin and left the house. After her procedures at the police station were completed, Ceylan S. was brought before the court and released under judicial control. It was learned that efforts to apprehend the other sister-in-law, Nehir K., are ongoing.
