In the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş, Melek G. and her brother S.G., who beat shepherd Nail Yener with a stick and recorded the attack on camera, have been re-arrested.
The scandalous incident occurred on September 20, 2024, in the Çokak neighborhood of Andırın district in Kahramanmaraş. Shepherd Nail Yener was grazing his animals when Melek G. and her sister S. G. approached him. The sisters, who asked Yener to buy them alcohol, attacked him when their request was denied.

The sisters recorded the moments of their attack with a stick on their mobile phone, and they were detained upon the complaint of shepherd Nail Yener.
THEY WERE RELEASED AT THE FIRST HEARING
The sisters, who were arrested by the court they were brought before, faced charges at the Andırın Criminal Court of First Instance. The indictment sought up to 11 years and 10 months in prison for Melek G. for "simple injury with a weapon against a person who is unable to defend themselves physically or mentally," and up to 7 years and 11 months for Seçil G., who was under 18 at the time of the incident, for "threat with a weapon by multiple people together, public insult." However, the individuals were released at their first hearing.
THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE RELEASED A STATEMENT
Hours after the controversial decision, the Ministry of Justice announced the arrest of Melek G. and Seçil G. In a statement from the ministry, it was said, "Melek G. and Seçil G. have been arrested in connection with the investigation into the incident where shepherd Nail Yener was beaten with a stick in the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş."
