A striking development occurred in the investigation into Mehmet Çetin, who went missing 11 years ago in Isparta. While a skull found in Burdur was confirmed to belong to Çetin through DNA matching, suspects were detained and 2 people were arrested in the extensive investigation conducted in connection with the incident. It was stated that other parts of Mehmet Çetin's body have not yet been found in the ongoing investigation.
The skull, identified as belonging to Mehmet Çetin who disappeared in Isparta 11 years ago, was found in an empty lot in Burdur. The identification was confirmed through DNA matching with samples taken from family members. Two suspects have been arrested in the ongoing investigation.
DNA MATCH CONFIRMS IDENTITY
The skull, found by citizens in March in Burdur, was determined to belong to Mehmet Çetin, who went missing in 2015 in the Büyükkabaca district of Senirkent, Isparta.
Forensic examination compared DNA samples from the skull with those from family members, resulting in identification.
DETENTIONS AND ARRESTS
As part of the investigation, operations were conducted in various provinces, primarily Isparta and Istanbul, under the instructions of the Isparta Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
During the operations, Mehmet Çetin's ex-wife Derya K., his friends Bayram A. and Bekir B. were detained. Additionally, convicted individuals T.G. and M.K., who are in prison, were included in the case file.
Bayram A. was arrested on charges of "intentional killing," while Derya K., previously released under judicial supervision, was re-arrested and sent to prison. Bekir B. was released under judicial supervision.
MISSING BODY STILL BEING SOUGHT
It was reported that only the skull of Mehmet Çetin has been found, and other parts of the body have not yet been located.
A special team formed for the case continues its efforts to shed light on all aspects of the incident and locate the missing body.
