The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that with the drop in air temperatures over the weekend, snowfall will be effective in inland and eastern regions, and called for precautions against storms and icing.

Meteorology warned against cold and rainy weather expected to affect Turkey throughout the weekend. While snow and heavy precipitation are expected in many regions, wind speeds are forecast to reach 70 kilometers per hour, and fog, haze, and icing are expected in some provinces.

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) warned citizens against the cold and rainy weather expected to affect Turkey throughout the weekend. While temperatures are expected to drop significantly below seasonal norms, heavy precipitation will be seen on the Black Sea coasts and snowfall in inland and eastern regions. A storm will be effective in the southern parts and at sea.

HAZE AND FOG EXPECTED IN THE INNER AEGEAN AND CENTRAL ANATOLIA

Along with the cold air wave, hazy weather will make its effect felt in the Inner Aegean and Central Anatolia. Haze and, in places, fog will be seen around Ankara, Eskişehir, Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Konya, and Aksaray, especially in the morning and night hours. As nighttime temperatures drop further, the danger of frost and icing will also increase. Citizens need to be careful, especially when going outside in the early morning and at night.

The wind, which will continue to be effective throughout the weekend, is expected to blow strongly from the west and northwest on the Black Sea coasts. Wind speeds in the region are estimated to reach 50 to 70 kilometers per hour. In the Marmara and Aegean regions, the wind blowing from the north today is forecast to have a speed between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour.

STORM WARNING IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AND SOUTHERN CENTRAL ANATOLIA

Tomorrow, the wind is expected to increase in intensity in the Mediterranean Region and the southern parts of Central Anatolia. Northerly winds blowing southward over the Mediterranean coasts and the Taurus Mountains are assessed to reach speeds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour and be effective as a storm.

CALL FOR PRECAUTIONS FOR CITIZENS

Authorities called for caution against the adverse effects that the heavy precipitation and wind expected over the weekend may cause. It was stated that necessary precautions should be taken against the risk of frost and icing in high-altitude regions, as well as storms, flooding, and possible disruptions in transportation.
