The investigation launched on allegations that a bribe of 200,000 Euros was demanded from a foreign businessman in exchange for writing off a 100 million lira debt at the Antalya Provincial Directorate of the Social Security Institution (SGK) has been expanded. Following SGK Provincial Director Mehmet Tanrıöver, his son, lawyer Mehmet Rıdvan Tanrıöver—who is also alleged to have acted as an intermediary in the bribery and is the son-in-law of AK Party Gaziantep Deputy Ali Şahin—has been taken into custody.

The operation within the bribery investigation, which erupted at the Antalya Directorate of the Social Security Institution (SGK) and contains allegations of irregularities worth millions of liras, has been expanded.

The investigation, which began with allegations that a bribe was demanded in exchange for wiping out a foreign businessperson's massive debt to the state, has caused significant repercussions in the political and bureaucratic world with the names taken into custody.

ALLEGATION OF A 200 THOUSAND EURO BRIBE FOR A 100 MILLION TL DEBT

The investigation started with a promise to irregularly erase a foreign businessperson operating in Antalya's approximately 100 million TL debt, including premiums and penalties, owed to the SGK. According to allegations, a bribe of 200 thousand Euros (approximately 7 million TL) was demanded from the businessperson in return for carrying out this process. Acting on complaints and obtained evidence, anti-smuggling and organized crime teams first took into custody Mehmet Tanrıöver, the Antalya provincial director of the Social Security Institution.

A striking custody decision was also implemented in the continuation of the investigation, deepened under the coordination of the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Lawyer Mehmet Rıdvan Tanrıöver, the son of Provincial Director Mehmet Tanrıöver and also the son-in-law of AK Party Gaziantep Deputy Ali Şahin, was also taken into custody as a suspect.

With lawyer Tanrıöver, who is alleged to have mediated the bribery scheme and used his legal influence, being added to the file, the operation expanded to cover both the institution's top management and political connections.

It has been reported that the suspects' interrogations at the police department are ongoing, and digital materials and bank account transactions are being meticulously examined to identify other public officials and intermediaries involved in the bribery network.
