The painful news of the martyr reached his family in the Kocakapı neighborhood of Konak district in İzmir. Turkish flags were hung at the martyr's family home.
HE PLANNED TO GET MARRIED IN 3 MONTHS
It was learned that Martyr Osman Oktay, one of 11 siblings, got engaged last month and planned to have a wedding in May. It was stated that the funeral of Martyr Sergeant Osman Oktay would be buried in Buca Kaynaklar Cemetery, where his father Hasan Oktay, who passed away 20 years ago, is also buried, after the ceremony to be held tomorrow, as per his will.

Mustafa Oktay, the brother of Martyr Osman Oktay, said, "May our nation's head be held high. My brother had been carrying out this sacred duty since 2018. He had served in Northern Iraq for 5 months, in Libya for about 1 month, and most recently, after his duty in Balıkesir Edremit, he had moved to Syria. He reached the rank of martyrdom in Syria. May God accept his martyrdom, inshallah. Long live the homeland. We were 6 brothers. Martyrdom was destined for him. I have no doubt that his comrades will not let his blood go unavenged," he said.
"NOT A WEDDING, BUT MARTYRDOM WAS DESTINED"
Mustafa Oktay, who stated that he last met Martyr Osman Oktay 3 months ago, said, "I was in the hospital. He had come to visit me. We did not have the chance to meet again. He got engaged a few months ago. He was supposed to have a wedding in May. He was thinking of continuing his duty after the wedding. We are 6 boys and 5 girls. We lost our father in 2010. According to my brother's will, we will bury him next to my father, inshallah. He had settled down, he had bought a house in Karşıyaka. He had also bought a car. Not a wedding, but martyrdom was destined," he expressed.
