The 27-year-old social media phenomenon Neşe Özkan, who lost her life at a private hospital in Istanbul during a tummy tuck surgery, was said by her husband, "There is negligence that will lead to death." Neşe Özkan (27), who got married 8 years ago in Bursa, underwent surgery for a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Wednesday, December 18, at Özel Bilge Hospital in the Gaziosmanpaşa district of Istanbul, following a friend's suggestion that her staff would offer a discount and with her police officer husband İskender Özkan. Özkan passed away after a 5-hour surgery. While Özkan's relatives complained about the doctors, the young woman's husband, İskender Özkan, made a statement on his social media account. "MY WIFE TOLD THE DOCTOR SHE HAD HEART SURGERY AT 17"Özkan said: "First of all, Vita Estetik and Özel Bilge Hospital are responsible for my wife's death. We had surgery at Özel Bilge Hospital. The doctor who performed the surgery and the anesthesiologist spoke with my wife. They asked about her condition. They inquired about her previous surgeries. They asked the usual questions to my wife as well. My wife stated that she had heart valve surgery and a surgery to close a hole in her heart at the age of 17, and that her doctor told her she had recovered afterward. She mentioned this to the anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist stated that enough time had passed, and that would not be a problem for her. If a doctor tells us this, there is no higher authority I can trust. I was convinced. My wife was also convinced by this answer. "NO TEST RELATED TO THE HEART WAS CONDUCTED"However, when I examined the documents I received from the hospital, I realized that no tests related to her heart had been conducted. I know that while they took her blood or when she entered other rooms, an ultrasound was performed, and an X-ray was taken, but I do not know if an EKG was done. I think it should have been done. When I had surgery on my nose, an EKG was performed, but despite my wife's heart condition, her EKG was not done. However, I can see that there is negligence that could lead to death here. Because I know that this surgery is not one that many people undergo easily and come out of, and it is not a surgery that one thinks of death at the end. "SHE WAS A PERSON WHO LOVED HER CHILDREN AND LIFE VERY MUCH"Özkan, stating that if she had known there was such a risk, his wife would not have taken that risk, said, "I think my wife was killed during the surgery due to a wrong procedure, insufficient equipment, and people. I am not saying that this was done intentionally. I am not making such an accusation. However, I can see that there is negligence that could lead to death here. My wife was a person who loved her children and life very much. If she had known there was such a risk, she would not have taken that risk; I know her very well. I believe that my wife died due to the inadequacy and shortcomings of Vita Estetik and Bilge Hospital," he said. "THE ANESTHESIOLOGIST DID NOT FOLLOW THE SURGERY"The grieving husband continued: "The hospital has a statement that my wife deteriorated after waking up and talking. Later, as far as I can see from the documents, they called the anesthesiologist from home. So, I understand from this that during my wife's surgery, the anesthesiologist was either not in the operating room or entered the operating room later. He entered at first, put her to sleep, and then left. He did not follow the surgery. He did not assist in waking her up. The camera recordings of the operating room are available at the police station. I requested an examination of them. I want to know the hours the anesthesiologist was in the operating room." On the other hand, the only remnants of the young woman are the images from a television program where she shared her story of meeting and marrying her husband 10 months ago. Neşe Özkan's body, brought to her father's house, was buried in Demetevler Cemetery after the funeral prayer held at Demetevler Mosque following the afternoon prayer.
