WASHED WITH COLD WATER AND BEATEN WITH A HOSE
The incident occurred the day before yesterday in the Süleymaniye neighborhood. The stepmother E.A., noticing that 7-year-old M.A. had wet himself, informed her husband A.A. The father, who works as a cleaning staff at Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital, took his son to the roof of the house, removed his clothes, and washed him with water, disregarding the cold weather. The father then beat his son with a hose as the child began to cry from fear and cold. Neighbors who heard the child's cries took photos of the incident and reported it to the police. Police teams arrived at the scene shortly and detained A.A. and E.A., while M.A. and his other siblings were taken into state protection.
"I BEAT HIM SO HE WOULDN'T WET HIMSELF AGAIN"
The detained father A.A. stated in his testimony at the police station that his intention was to scare his child. A.A. noted that his child was constantly wetting himself, saying, "He was constantly wetting himself. On the day of the incident, I took him to the roof to wash him so that the house wouldn't smell because he had wet himself again. Then, to scare him and to prevent him from doing it again, I beat him with a hose. I regret it." After his procedures at the police station, A.A. was sent to court and arrested, while the stepmother E.A. was released under judicial control.
