In the war that has begun between Pakistan and India, initial reports indicate that 26 people have lost their lives and 46 others have been injured. As the toll continues to rise every hour, the government of Pakistan announced that the armed forces have been authorized to respond appropriately following India's missile attacks.
The death toll has increased in the attack carried out by India on 9 points in Pakistan, claiming it has a "terror infrastructure." Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of the Pakistan Army's Public Relations Unit (ISPR), announced that 26 civilians lost their lives and 46 civilians were injured in the areas targeted by India.
5 FIGHTER JETS WERE DOWNED
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated in his announcement that all the points targeted by India were civilian residential areas, and that among the hit locations were 2 mosques. Minister Asif conveyed that India's claim of targeting "terror camps" was incorrect. Asif stated that Pakistan downed 5 Indian aircraft and captured some Indian soldiers. Education was suspended in schools in Punjab province of Pakistan.
"INDIA STRUCK 5 RESIDENTIAL AREAS AND 2 MOSQUES"
Pakistan's Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated in his announcement that India struck 5 residential areas and 2 mosques in Pakistan. Minister Tarar said, "It is a very unfortunate situation for India to attack innocent civilians who have no connection to the matter. Therefore, I believe that Pakistan, as a responsible nation defending its honor and territorial integrity, has responded. We downed 5 aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force. During this process, we also downed a drone and several quadcopters. We were concerned that India would attack Pakistan without a just cause, and they did. Pakistan defended itself, and we have always said we would respond. We will not be the first to strike. However, if India resorts to aggression, Pakistan will respond, and it has," he stated. Tarar noted that following India's attack, the armies of the two countries clashed along the Line of Control in Kashmir, stating, "We destroyed several Indian posts along the Line of Control. We downed 5 aircraft."
An official from ISPR confirmed to the British news agency Reuters that "so far, I can confirm that 5 Indian aircraft have been shot down, including 3 Rafale, 1 Su-30, and 1 MiG-29. Additionally, a drone was also downed. I would like to emphasize that all these engagements were defensive actions after these aircraft opened fire on Pakistani territory," he said. The official reported that all Indian aircraft opened fire from Indian airspace using long-range weapons.
PAKISTAN CALLED IN THE INDIAN CHARGÉ D'AFFAIRES
In a statement from the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reported that the Indian chargé d'affaires was summoned to the ministry "to convey Pakistan's strong protests against India's baseless attacks on many points in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir." The statement conveyed that "India's overt act of aggression constitutes a clear violation of Pakistan's sovereignty. Such actions are contrary to the UN Charter, international law, and established norms governing inter-state relations. Pakistan firmly rejects India's unfounded justifications for its hostile actions. The Indian side was warned that such reckless behavior poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability."
"THE WORLD MUST SHOW ZERO TOLERANCE TO TERRORISM"
In a recent statement from the Indian army, it was reported that 10 people were killed and 32 were injured in the counterattack carried out by Pakistan. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in his first statement regarding India's attacks on Pakistan and Kashmir under Pakistani administration, said, "The world must show zero tolerance to terrorism."
India referred to the attacks it carried out overnight as "Operation Sindoor." The 9 points that the Indian army targeted and claimed to be terrorist camps were announced as follows:
- Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur
- Markaz Taiba, Muridke
- Sarjal, Tahra Kalan
- Mehmoona Joya Facility, Sialkot
- Markaz Ahle Hadis Barnala, Bhimber
- Markaz Abbas, Kotli
- Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli
- Shawai Nallah Mosque, Muzaffarabad
- Markaz Syedna Bilal
PAKISTAN HAD SAID "A RESPONSE WILL BE GIVEN"
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in a statement made late at night following India's attack, stated that India launched a cowardly attack on Pakistan, saying, "This despicable act of aggression will not go unpunished. Pakistan reserves the right to give a decisive response to the Indian attack, and a firm response is already being prepared. Our nation stands united behind its armed forces; our morale and determination have not been shaken. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pakistan's brave officers and soldiers. The people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces are ready to counter any threat and to overcome the threat with our strength and determination. The enemy's evil intentions will never be allowed to succeed," he stated.
The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs also made a strong statement accusing India of carrying out an "open act of war" late at night. The statement said, "India's aggressive action led to the loss of civilian lives, including women and children. This act of aggression also posed a serious threat to commercial air traffic. We strongly condemn India's cowardly actions, which are a clear violation of the UN Charter, international law, and established norms of inter-state relations."
