Our National Women's Volleyball Team won the gold medal by defeating Italy 3-2 in the final of the Trendyol 2026 CEV Women's European Volleyball Championship. Despite falling behind twice in the final, the Sultans of the Net did not give up and won the decisive set 15-10, achieving the European championship for the 2nd consecutive time.
The National Women's Volleyball Team faced Italy in the European Championship final. In a match full of great competition, the Sultans of the Net, who fell behind twice, made a magnificent comeback, defeating their opponent 3-2 and becoming European champions.
FIRST SET GOES TO ITALY
Italy, who started the match effectively, maintained their superiority throughout the first set. Italy won the set 25-16 against the Sultans of the Net, taking a 1-0 lead in the final.
THE SULTANS OF THE NET RESPOND
Taking control of the game in the second set, Turkey established dominance over their opponent. Our national team won the set 25-22, leveling the score at 1-1.
ITALY TAKES THE LEAD AGAIN
In the third set, Italy regained the upper hand. Winning the set 25-12, Italy took a 2-1 lead in the match, coming within one set of the championship.
THE SULTANS DID NOT GIVE UP
The Sultans of the Net did not step back in the crucial fourth set. Our national team won the fiercely contested set 25-21, bringing the score to 2-2 and forcing the final that would decide the European champion into a deciding set.
WE DEFEATED ITALY IN THE DECIDING SET
In the fifth set that determined the championship, the Sultans of the Net showcased their superiority. Turkey won the deciding set 15-10, emerging victorious from the match 3-2. Thus, the Sultans of the Net became European champions and claimed the gold medal.
