In the match where the Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team defeated Serbia 3-0 in the semifinals of the 2026 CEV European Championship and advanced to the final, Ebrar Karakurt was not included in the squad. It was announced that in the examinations conducted on the national star, bone marrow edema and an increase of fluid in the sacroiliac joint were detected, and she was not included in the squad because the process for a safe return to the court had not been completed.

At the beginning of the national team camp, Ebrar Karakurt, who had pains, was found to have bone marrow edema and increased fluid in the sacroiliac joint during examinations. The national volleyball player, who first rested, then underwent a physiotherapy and controlled return-to-court program.
RETURN-TO-COURT PROCESS NOT COMPLETED
Although significant improvement was seen in Ebrar Karakurt's latest check-ups, it was determined that the safe return-to-court process had not yet been completed.
As a result of a joint evaluation by the health teams of the National Team and Eczacıbaşı, it was decided that the star volleyball player would not be included in the squad, considering her health condition.

The Turkish Volleyball Federation used the following statements in its announcement regarding Ebrar's situation:
"Our athlete Ebrar Karakurt, who was found to have bone marrow edema and increased fluid in the sacroiliac joint during examinations conducted due to her existing pains at the beginning of the National Team camp, first completed her rest period, then a physiotherapy and controlled return-to-court program was initiated."
The Federation reported that despite the improvement seen in the check-ups, the safe return-to-court process had not been completed, and with the joint decision of the health teams, Ebrar was not included in the current squad.
THE SULTANS OF THE NET ADVANCED TO THE FINAL
In the semifinal where Ebrar Karakurt did not play, Turkey defeated Serbia 3-0 with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-20. Thus, the Sultans of the Net advanced to the final at the European Championship without losing a set to their opponent.
