The statements of Polat Dereli (45), who stabbed one person and killed another during a dispute on the street in Antalya, were surprising. The incident occurred around 01:00 in 1986 Street, Fener Neighborhood, Muratpaşa district. Polat Dereli first went to a café located in Çağlayan Neighborhood, where he argued with Osman Dere (36), a valet he had never met before, and attacked him with a knife. Dereli, who fled the scene on his bicycle with the weapon used in the crime, had a dispute with Deniz Akten (38) on the same street 15 minutes later. Dereli stabbed Akten, who worked as a drummer in the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Band, 20 times and fled the scene. Teams that arrived at the scene upon notification determined that Deniz Akten had lost his life. Following the report of the situation, Muratpaşa Crime Investigation, Homicide Bureau, and crime scene investigation teams were called to the scene. CAUGHT WHILE WATCHING THE POLICEThe teams arrived at the scene quickly, while the crime scene investigation teams began working in the street they had cordoned off with security tape. While the Crime Investigation and Homicide Bureau teams were gathering information about the incident, they identified that Polat Dereli was at the scene and was watching the police's work. The teams caught Polat Dereli with the weapon used in the crime and took him into custody. "I AM CRAZY"After the work of the crime scene investigation teams, the lifeless body of Deniz Akten was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy. Osman Dere, who was stabbed in front of the workplace where he worked as a valet and was not in life-threatening condition, was taken to the hospital. Polat Dereli, who was taken into custody, exercised his right to remain silent at the police station. Not speaking about why he committed the murder, Polat Dereli said, "I received treatment. I have nothing to do with it. I did not commit the murder. I am crazy." RESPONDED TO THE PRESS MEMBERSAs Dereli was leaving the health check, he answered the question from the press members, "If you did not commit the murder, did someone else commit it by disguising as you?" with "That's correct," before getting into the police vehicle. It was learned that Dereli had received treatment for a while at the Istanbul Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital about 3 years ago.
