In the Haliliye district of Şanlıurfa, a 21-year-old person killed his mother and sister, with whom he had an argument at home, with a shotgun. The attacker, who also wounded his other sister, and his friend who helped him escape were arrested by the court they were brought before after being caught.
Hüseyin D. (21), who was reportedly wanted under an arrest warrant in Şanlıurfa, opened fire with a shotgun on his family after an argument when his request for money was refused. His mother Huriye Çiçekli (43) and his sister Zeynep Demircan (23) were hit by pellets and lost their lives, while Melikenur Demircan (11) was injured. The suspect, who fled after the incident, was caught by police teams at the address where he was hiding.
HE WENT BERSERK WHEN HIS REQUEST FOR MONEY WAS REFUSED
The incident occurred at night in a single-story house in the rural Konuklu Neighborhood of Haliliye district. Hüseyin D., the son of a family who were reportedly agricultural workers, asked his mother Huriye Çiçekli, who was religiously married to his father, for money. According to the allegation, when the mother, who stated that her spouse Ahmet Demircan was being treated in hospital and that they might need money, gave a negative response to her son's request, an argument broke out.
HE KILLED HIS MOTHER AND SISTER
In the argument that quickly escalated, Hüseyin D., who was reportedly previously known to have a criminal record and an arrest warrant out for him, opened fire on his family with a shotgun found in the house. His mother Huriye Çiçekli and his sisters Melikenur and Zeynep Demircan, who were hit by pellets, collapsed to the ground, while the suspect left the shotgun at the scene and fled.
Following reports from neighbors who heard the gunshots, medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene. In the check carried out by medical teams, it was determined that Zeynep Demircan had lost her life. The mother Huriye Çiçekli, who was taken to hospital in critical condition, could not be saved despite all the doctors' efforts. It was learned that Melikenur Demircan, who was wounded in the foot, is still being treated at the hospital.
After the incident, police teams launched a large-scale operation and caught the suspect Hüseyin D. at the address where he was hiding and took him into custody. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Hüseyin D. and his friend who helped him hide were arrested by the court to which they were brought.
