The Syrian National Army is in the center of the district of Tel Rifaat.

01.12.2024 20:01

The Syrian National Army, which has mobilized alongside armed opposition groups against the Bashar al-Assad regime, achieved a significant gain in the "Operation Dawn of Freedom," launched to prevent the PKK/YPG terrorist organization from controlling the Tel Rifaat-Munbij corridor. After capturing Minnigh Airport from the terrorists, the Syrian National Army reached the central square of Tel Rifaat district.

The Syrian National Army (SNA) reached the square in the center of Tel Rifaat district during the Operation Dawn of Freedom launched against the terrorist organization PKK/YPG, while clashes with terrorists continue in the outer areas.

The SNA forces, which continue to clash with terrorists holed up in Tel Rifaat on the northwestern, northeastern, eastern, and southern front lines of the district, entered from Deyr Jamal to the west of Tel Rifaat and reached the square in the district center. Clashes continue sporadically in the outer areas of Tel Rifaat. A large number of mines planted by the terrorist organization were detected in the settlements around Tel Rifaat.

PKK'S SO-CALLED TEL RIFAT RESPONSIBLE KILLED

In the operation, an area of approximately 850 kilometers around Tel Rifaat was brought under control. Additionally, the so-called Tel Rifaat responsible terrorist of PKK/YPG was also killed.

OPERATION DAWN OF FREEDOM

The SNA had launched the Operation Dawn of Freedom against the PKK/YPG's plan to create a terrorist corridor between Tel Rifaat and northeastern Syria. With the start of the operation by the regime-opposed armed groups towards Aleppo, the Syrian regime forces, which quickly lost control of their areas, requested support from the terrorist organization PKK/YPG against these groups, which opened up space for PKK/YPG.

ASSAD STARTED TO GIVE THE EAST OF THE EUPHRATES TO PKK

The Syrian regime has begun to transfer the territories under its control to the PKK/YPG forces located east of the Euphrates, and many PKK/YPG members have come to the Aleppo region from the east of the Euphrates, while heavy weapons belonging to the organization have started to be sent to the region. The terrorist organization PKK/YPG has initiated a plan to create a terrorist corridor between Tel Rifaat and northeastern Syria, prompting SNA groups to launch the Operation Dawn of Freedom and quickly enter the field.

THE PRESENCE OF TERRORISTS IN TEL RIFAT

PKK/YPG terrorists captured Tel Rifaat and some surrounding settlements in February 2016 with the air support of Russia. The terrorist organization displaced approximately 250,000 civilians from Tel Rifaat and its surroundings, and this population sought refuge in areas close to the Turkish border. The terrorist organization has been regularly attacking the Turkish security forces and the positions of opposition fighters that provide security in the areas of the Euphrates Shield Operation and Olive Branch Operation from here.

OPPOSITION FORCES CAPTURED TWO AIRPORTS

During the operation, the SNA captured the Kuweires Military Airport, which includes military aircraft and air defense systems, cutting off the PKK/YPG's Tel Rifaat-Munbij line. The SNA also seized the Minnigh Airport, which is strategically important due to its proximity to Turkey, being only 13 kilometers away.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 27, clashes began between the Assad regime forces and regime-opposed armed groups in the western rural area of Aleppo province in northern Syria. On November 27-28, the regime-opposed armed groups rapidly advanced from the western rural areas of Aleppo towards the center, and from the second day of the clashes, they captured many areas in the rural Idlib as well. On November 29, the armed groups entered the city center of Aleppo and have since captured a large part of the center.
