A 30-year veteran history teacher in Adana, Nevin Vurunbiği, donated two houses, two vehicles, and 2 million lira of her savings to the Turkish Armed Forces due to issues she had with her father. A year ago, she received a report stating she was "healthy," but this time, while she was being admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of "psychosis" by the same hospital, a court decision was made to block her accounts.
A 51-year-old history teacher, Nevin Vurunbiği, who has two houses, two vehicles, and approximately 2 million lira in savings in the bank, was dragged into a legal and psychiatric process following a serious disagreement with her 77-year-old father in the Silifke district of Mersin and in Adana.
SHE LEFT ALL HER SAVINGS TO THE TSK
According to allegations, the father wanted the house in Silifke to be transferred to his name. The teacher Vurunbiği, who rejected this request, donated all her assets to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) as the pressures increased. After learning that his daughter had donated all her assets to the TSK, the father filed for guardianship, and a freeze was placed on the teacher's bank accounts.
"HE ASSAULTED ME IN MY OWN HOME"
Claiming that she was subjected to severe violence by her father in August 2022, Nevin Vurunbiği stated, "My father assaulted me very badly in my own home. He dragged me on the floors and tried to throw me off the balcony. He cursed and kicked me out of the house. After that, accusations, blackmail, and threats began."
Stating that she filed a lawsuit against her father after the incident of violence, Vurunbiği noted that a court decision was made for her eviction from her own house, but despite this, the pressures continued.
TWO CONTRADICTORY REPORTS IN A YEAR
Explaining that she received a report stating "Healthy, can buy and sell property" from the same hospital during the period she donated her assets to the TSK, teacher Vurunbiği said that only a year later, the same hospital diagnosed her with "psychosis" and stated that she needed to be hospitalized. Vurunbiği stated, "I have only been using blood pressure medication for years. I have no psychological disorders. I have not experienced any health problems within a year. Despite this, I am being forced to be hospitalized under the pretext of 'psychosis'."
"THE AIM IS TO SEIZE MY ASSETS"
Vurunbiği expressed that she requested a referral to a referee hospital by appealing the diagnosis, but this request was not accepted. Nevin Vurunbiği also claimed that a guardianship decision was made without a hearing, in her absence, and with false witnesses. The teacher stated that a decision was made to forcibly bring her to the hospital with police escort, claiming that the process was not fair. Claiming that her 30 years of savings were targeted, Vurunbiği summarized the events with the following words:
"A non-existent illness was fabricated to seize all my savings. I was referred to the hospital to obtain guardianship. This is not a health issue; it is a matter of property."
