Some time ago, the guardianship case opened by his son Ahmet Tatlıses, claiming that "his mental faculties are not intact," was rejected by the court; the judiciary ruled that İbrahim Tatlıses's mental health is intact.
Following this decision, İbrahim Tatlıses took the stage and reacted to the issue, harshly criticizing his son. In his speech, the artist made an emotional analogy regarding the father-son relationship,
"Especially that first baby, you know, the first baby. We had the first baby, and he said, 'My father's mental faculties are not intact.' Do you know what I told the judge? 'Your Honor, do you know when my mental faculties were not intact; it was when I did it with his mother.' My mental faculties were not intact then. If they were, I wouldn't have done it. Can a child do this to a father? I wish my father were alive; I would kiss his hands and feet," he had stated.
