In İzmir Buca, according to claims, a car racing with another vehicle struck and killed municipal worker Veli Yaşar, who was walking. The accident was captured by a dashcam, and the 19-year-old driver who fled was arrested.

In the Buca district of Izmir, footage has emerged of a horrific accident where a car, allegedly racing with another vehicle, struck and killed a pedestrian who was a Buca Municipality worker. The 19-year-old driver who fled after the accident has been arrested.

The incident occurred on June 24, around 00:50, on Cemil Şeboy Street in the Efeler neighborhood of Buca. According to information, the car with license plate 35 CHY 151, driven by S.K. (19), began racing with another car while traveling on the street. Due to excessive speed and carelessness, the vehicle lost control and hit Veli Yaşar (51), a worker from the Buca Municipality Parks and Gardens Directorate who was walking on the road.

COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE ALL INTERVENTIONS 

The unfortunate man, seriously injured by the force of the impact, was taken to Buca Seyfi Demirsoy Training and Research Hospital by 112 Emergency Health teams dispatched to the scene after reports from nearby citizens. At the hospital, examinations revealed multiple fractures in Yaşar's skull and various parts of his body. After initial treatment in the red zone, he was placed in the intensive care unit. Veli Yaşar, who fought for his life, could not be saved despite all medical interventions. The news of his death plunged his family and colleagues into grief.

ACCIDENT AND ESCAPE MOMENT ON DASH CAM

Meanwhile, it was revealed that the moment of the horrific accident in which the municipal worker lost his life was captured second by second on the dash cam of another car following behind. The footage shows the car driven by S.K. violently hitting pedestrian Veli Yaşar, the driver pulling the vehicle to the right after the impact, getting out, checking on Veli Yaşar, then getting back into his car and fleeing the scene, disappearing.

DRIVER ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON

A large-scale operation was launched to capture the driver S.K., who fled the scene after the accident. The suspect was quickly caught and taken into custody as a result of meticulous police tracking. After completing procedures at the police station, S.K. was sent to court and then arrested and sent to prison by the judge.
