The statement of Cevat Kaya, the brother of Dilek İmamoğlu who was arrested in the corruption operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), has emerged. The statement of Cevat Kaya, the brother of the dismissed Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested as part of the corruption investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the IMM, has emerged.

Cevat Kaya stated the following in his testimony: "I started working at a very young age, and I have approximately 40 years of business experience. I have never committed a disgraceful crime, I have not harmed anyone, and I have conducted my businesses in a very healthy manner. We are in the textile business. I was suddenly taken into custody on Saturday, and I am here today. In some text messages, a friend of mine was curious about the location of a parcel he wanted to ask about. I sent a message to find out. Nevda is a friend from my neighborhood that I have known for a long time. They used to import alcohol. They had a company, but I don't remember the name. He was doing this business with his father, but later the company closed. I do not know Turan. I am Dilek Hanım's brother, but I have not benefited from the municipality in any way, nor have I acted as an intermediary to secure business with the municipality. I am honest; I already have my own business. I may have sent a few messages to help my friends, that's all. The company where I sell fabric in Merter has a second company that sells meat products. They had a debt, and they said 'there is no money' to us. He said, 'I will give you a pledge in exchange for your fabric debt.' I also asked Tonguç Medya to support me on this matter. I do not accept the charges against me, and I request to be released."
