The toll of the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Malatya's Kale district at 10:46 has been announced.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the earthquake that was felt in many provinces. Yerlikaya stated, "The provinces affected by the earthquake are Urfa, Elazığ, Batman, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Tunceli. As soon as we learned that the epicenter of the earthquake was Malatya Kale, we first informed our President and immediately contacted our governors. Right after the earthquake, our governors, especially the Governor of Malatya, along with all our governors, AFAD, gendarmerie, police, metropolitan and provincial municipalities, and district municipalities, along with all public institutions and organizations, initiated a coordination process to conduct field surveys in the relevant settlements, neighborhood by neighborhood."

Yerlikaya continued his statements as follows:

"Initially, we start with the field surveys based on the incoming reports. Subsequently, we carry out our other surveys. The teams of our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change quickly went into action upon the instruction of our Minister. 2 general directors and 3 department heads were assigned in Malatya, and 1 general director and 2 department heads were assigned in Elazığ. In total, 10 damage assessment teams were deployed in Malatya and 10 damage assessment teams in Elazığ, and sufficient damage assessment commissions have been established in each of the other provinces as well. Both in Malatya and Elazığ, as of today, our working processes regarding damage assessments have been initiated.

"43 CITIZENS UNDER OBSERVATION"

With 55 vehicles from AFAD, our 210 personnel, along with 3 UAVs and 1 manned reconnaissance aircraft from the gendarmerie and police forces, our teams continue their work. Our teams are monitoring developments moment by moment. So far, as of 15:00, we have received 1,112 reports at our 112 Call Center. Of these reports, 963 are for information, and 149 are for assistance. As I mentioned around 11:00, there were partial collapses in a total of 3 buildings, one each in Malatya, Şanlıurfa, and Elazığ, before coming from Ankara. Thank God, we have not had any loss of life. According to the information received from our Ministry of Health, a total of 187 citizens were affected by the earthquake: 33 in Malatya, 32 in Elazığ, 18 in Adıyaman, 17 in Diyarbakır, 3 in Kahramanmaraş, and 2 in Şanlıurfa. Currently, 43 citizens are under observation, and we have been informed by our colleagues here that the others have been discharged after outpatient treatment.

1 DAY BREAK IN EDUCATION IN 5 PROVINCES

Due to the earthquake, education has been suspended for 1 day in our provinces of Malatya, Şanlıurfa, Elazığ, Adıyaman, and Batman, and we must also state that there was a rockfall in the districts of Pütürge and Kale in Malatya. Currently, there are no roads closed due to rockfalls. Our highways have quickly cleared this.

There are no power outages, infrastructure damage, or water cut reports in the provinces affected by the earthquake. Our colleagues have also reported to us that there has been no negative situation in the buildings of our hospitals so far. I extend my best wishes to all citizens affected by the earthquake. We always express that may God protect our cities and our country from all disasters, known and unknown, and I once again convey my best wishes to all citizens affected by the earthquake, especially to our fellow citizens from Malatya who are watching us on their screens.
