The toll of the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Malatya's Kale district at 10:46 has been announced. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the earthquake that was felt in many provinces. Yerlikaya stated, "The provinces affected by the earthquake are Urfa, Elazığ, Batman, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Tunceli. As soon as we learned that the epicenter of the earthquake was Malatya Kale, we first informed our President and immediately contacted our governors. Right after the earthquake, our governors, especially the Governor of Malatya, along with all our governors, AFAD, gendarmerie, police, metropolitan and provincial municipalities, and district municipalities, along with all public institutions and organizations, initiated a coordination process to conduct field surveys in the relevant settlements, neighborhood by neighborhood." Yerlikaya continued his statements as follows: "Initially, we start with the field surveys based on the incoming reports. Subsequently, we carry out our other surveys. The teams of our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change quickly went into action upon the instruction of our Minister. 2 general directors and 3 department heads were assigned in Malatya, and 1 general director and 2 department heads were assigned in Elazığ. In total, 10 damage assessment teams were deployed in Malatya and 10 damage assessment teams in Elazığ, and sufficient damage assessment commissions have been established in each of the other provinces as well.
