9 DEFENDANTS APPEAR BEFORE THE JUDGE FOR THE FIRST TIME
The trial for the murder of 22-year-old university student Ayşe Tokyaz, who was killed by former police officer Cemil Koç in Küçükçekmece on July 11 and whose body was placed in a suitcase and left by the roadside in Eyüpsultan, starts today. In the case to be heard at the Küçükçekmece 2nd High Criminal Court, nine defendants, including the suspect Cemil Koç, will appear before the judge for the first time.
FROM THE INDICTMENT
In the indictment prepared by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Ayşe Tokyaz is referred to as the 'deceased', her twin sister Esra Tokyaz as the 'complainant', and the suspect Cemil Koç (38) along with eight other individuals are listed as 'suspects'. The indictment states that on the day of the incident, complainant Esra Tokyaz came to the Küçükçekmece Halkalı Police Station to give a statement, in which she mentioned that she had a video call with her sister Ayşe Tokyaz, during which she noticed bruises on her sister's face and mouth, and that Ayşe was covered in blood. Ayşe told Esra that she had been assaulted by Cemil Koç and shared her location with her sister. Esra Tokyaz went to the address provided, where the door was opened by Cemil Koç, who told her that her sister was not there. Following this, Esra Tokyaz searched for Ayşe Tokyaz for three days, and upon failing to find her, reported the situation to the police, stating that she was filing a complaint against Cemil Koç for assaulting and detaining her sister.
SUSPECT DISMISSED FROM POLICE FORCE
It was determined that Koç had a total of 8 criminal records, including 1 suspicious death and 3 counts of intentional injury. The indictment mentions that Cemil Koç and Ayşe Tokyaz had been in a relationship for some time and that Koç had been dismissed from the police force. It was reported that Koç had a total of 8 criminal records, including 1 suspicious death, 3 counts of intentional injury, and 1 threat. The indictment also states that the deceased Tokyaz sometimes stayed at the suspect Koç's house, with the last visit being on July 7, four days before the incident, where she had a fight with Cemil Koç. Following the fight, Tokyaz returned to her student dormitory in Beşiktaş, where she video-called her sister complainant Esra Tokyaz, during which she had bruises and bleeding on her face and told her sister that she had been assaulted by Cemil Koç. Esra Tokyaz then arrived at the scene with Cemal Arslan, and the door was opened by the suspect Cemil Koç. After handing over her rings, Esra Tokyaz asked about Ayşe Tokyaz, to which Cemil Koç replied that she had left the house. Upon seeing Ayşe's shoes in front of the door, Esra Tokyaz became concerned for Ayşe Tokyaz's life and reported to the police station.
TOKYAZ'S BODY FOUND TO CONTAIN COCAINE SUBSTANCES IN THE FORENSIC REPORT
The autopsy report prepared by the Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) Istanbul Morgue Specialization Department was also included in the indictment. The report indicated that various types of cocaine substances were found in Ayşe Tokyaz's body, and that narcotic or stimulant substances were present in her gallbladder and urine. It was determined that the cause of death of the deceased Ayşe Tokyaz was due to blunt force trauma resulting in a nasal bone fracture and subsequent brain hemorrhage.
