DEPOTS PUNCTURED, CHEMICAL SUBSTANCE LEAKED
The incident occurred around 8:30 PM yesterday at a recycling facility owned by Ö.K. in the 19 Mayıs Industrial Site. According to allegations, U.G., the owner of a plastic company, opened fire with a pistol from his own workplace targeting Ö.K.'s recycling facility. As a result of the gunfire, 5 bullets hit the outer sheet metal section of the workplace, and the bullets also struck 1-tonne depots containing a mixture of solvent and thinner chemicals. After four depots were punctured, the chemicals began to leak into the workplace.
POLICE OFFICERS POISONED
Upon the report, police, AFAD, fire brigade, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. While extensive security measures were taken in the area, intervention efforts for the chemical leak began. Six police officers who intervened at the scene were also affected by the leaking gas and were taken to the hospital.
PROPERTY OWNER AND TENANT DISPUTE EMERGED
U.G., who fled after the armed attack, was captured and taken into custody by the police. Investigations revealed a dispute between the property owner and the tenant. After his interrogation at the police station, U.G. was referred to the Samsun Courthouse today.
