The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the unemployment rates for February. According to the released data, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous month, reaching 8.2%.
The latest data regarding unemployment, which is closely monitored by economic circles in Turkey and considered one of the important indicators, has been released. According to the unemployment figures for February announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and over decreased by 95,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 2 million 886 thousand in February 2025. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 points to 8.2%. The unemployment rate is estimated to be 6.7% for men and 11.0% for women.
SEASONALLY ADJUSTED EMPLOYMENT RATE WAS 48.8%
The number of employed individuals decreased by 149,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 32 million 314 thousand in February 2025, while the employment rate decreased by 0.3 points to 48.8%. This rate was 66.0% for men and 31.9% for women.
LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE WAS 53.2%
The labor force decreased by 244,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 35 million 200 thousand in February 2025, while the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.4 points to 53.2%. The labor force participation rate was 70.8% for men and 35.9% for women.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AMONG YOUNG POPULATION WAS 15.0%
The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 increased by 0.1 points compared to the previous month, reaching 15.0%. The unemployment rate in this age group is estimated to be 10.8% for men and 22.7% for women.
AVERAGE ACTUAL WORKING TIME PER WEEK WAS 43.4 HOURS
The average actual working time per week for those employed during the reference period, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, remained the same as the previous month, at 43.4 hours in February 2025.
UNDERUTILIZED LABOR FORCE RATE WAS 28.4%
The rate of underutilized labor force, consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force, and unemployed individuals, increased by 0.2 points compared to the previous month, reaching 28.4% in February 2025. The integrated rate of time-related underemployment and unemployed individuals was 18.4%, while the integrated rate of unemployed and potential labor force was estimated to be 19.5%.
