The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has released the VAR recordings of the penalty incident in the interrupted Galatasaray-Adana Demirspor match. Following the release of these recordings, the yellow-red fans tweeted thousands of times on social media, calling for the disclosure of recordings for other controversial incidents from previous weeks that did not undergo VAR review but were widely discussed.
TFF announced the raw VAR recordings of the controversial penalty incident given in the 11th minute of the Galatasaray-Adana Demirspor match.
The VAR conversation regarding the incident is as follows;
VAR: "Is there another angle? Great, please. Penalty, okay. I'm checking the APP. Is there offside? Oğuzhan, check completed, penalty correct."
Oğuzhan Çakır: "Okay, penalty."
In a statement made by TFF, it was stated, "In the board meeting held today by the Board of Directors of the Turkish Football Federation, it has been decided to share the raw VAR recordings with the football public regarding the incident that occurred in the 11th minute of the match played between Galatasaray A.Ş. and Adana Demirspor A.Ş. on February 9, 2025, during the 23rd week of the Trendyol Super League."
It was also stated, "In case similar incidents occur where VAR intervention is necessary but the referee is not invited to review, the football public will continue to be informed in the following weeks in accordance with the principle of transparency," according to the evaluation of the MHK.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Leader Galatasaray faced Adana Demirspor at RAMS Park in the 23rd week of the Super League. In the 12th minute of the match, Galatasaray took the lead 1-0 with a penalty goal scored by Alvaro Morata. While the match continued with the home team's superiority, in the 30th minute, Yusuf Barasi fell to the ground due to injury without the ball. During this time, a discussion took place between the Adana Demirspor players and head coach Mustafa Alper Avcı.
After this, first the blue-dark blue players, and then the referee quartet went to the dressing room. After waiting for a while, the Galatasaray players also left the field. Approximately 25 minutes later, the announcement made in the stadium stated, "The match has been suspended by the referee due to the Adana Demirspor team withdrawing from the field."
