The suspect named İpek Akıncı, who hurled insults and attacked a veiled mother and daughter during a dispute over sunbed space at a beach in İzmir's Seferihisar district, was taken into custody. Following an investigation into the ugly attack captured on a mobile phone camera, the suspect was referred to a judge with a request for her arrest on charges of "hate and discrimination."

An incident that occurred around 18:00 on July 3, 2026, in Mersinalanı District, Seferihisar, İzmir, sparked major public backlash. An argument over sunbed spots on the beach quickly turned into verbal and physical assault involving hate speech.

"THESE ARE OURS" SHE SHOUTED AS SHE THREW A CHAIR

Footage recorded moment by moment on the victims' mobile phone camera during the incident showed suspect İpek Akıncı's intolerant attitude towards a mother and daughter wearing headscarves. The assailant was seen shouting insults such as "Get out of here. Go away" and "Who do you think you are" at the victims, then violently throwing a chair she grabbed onto the ground. The suspect's cries of "These are ours" during the attack were also captured on record.

DAUGHTER TO MOTHER: MOM, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

During the attack, the mother, wanting to distance herself from the tension, was seen gathering her belongings to leave the beach. However, her daughter, who was filming, intervened. The young woman capturing the footage was clearly heard saying, "Is everyone seeing what happened to us? Mom, where are you going?" as she tried to stop her mother and stand up for her rights.
