Lawyer Gizem Gülsen Günaştı, who bought a brand new car in Yalova for 2 million 385 thousand TL, experienced a great shock when she took the delivered vehicle for an expert inspection. Günaştı, who requested the replacement of the vehicle with a new one after detecting a 'remove-and-reinstall' process on the front hood and high paint thickness, initiated a legal battle after the dealership responded with 'production standard.'

Gizem Gülsen Günaştı, a lawyer living in Yalova, experienced a great shock when she took the brand-new Hyundai Tucson she purchased for 2 million 385 thousand TL to an expert inspection. Günaştı, who started a legal battle for the replacement of her vehicle after "remove-reinstall" work and high paint thickness were detected on the front hood, reacted to the dealer, saying, "I paid extra to have a flawless car, but I was victimized."

Gizem Gülsen Günaştı, who works as a lawyer in Yalova, took the brand-new Hyundai Tucson model vehicle she received from a private dealer on July 8 for 2 million 385 thousand lira to an expert inspection center immediately after delivery. In the examinations and the prepared report, it was determined that while the general paint micron values of the vehicle were in the 75-90 range, the values on the front hood rose to 140-160 microns, and also a "remove-reinstall adjustment" process was performed on the engine hood screws.

"I HAD REJECTED A CAR AT ANOTHER DEALER BECAUSE IT WAS DEFECTIVE"

Günaştı, stating that she had previously been offered the same model vehicle at another dealer for 2 million 320 thousand TL with factory-origin paint on the rear fender, but she rejected this offer because she wanted a "flawless car" and paid more money, described her grievance with these words: "I didn't take the car at the other dealer because I said I'm buying a new car and want it to be flawless. I especially emphasized that I wanted a flawless car. They told me they had a flawless car. I was shocked when I took it for inspection right after getting the car. Both the remove-reinstall process and a significantly higher paint measurement compared to other parts came out on the front hood. While I was dreaming of going on vacation with my twin daughters, I've been dealing with legal processes for 40 days. I couldn't even remove the protective films because I don't accept this car in this condition."

"I WANT IT REPLACED WITH A FLAWLESS ONE"

Günaştı, stating that the mediation meetings held between the parties during the process yielded no results, emphasized that she has two separate expert reports and one expert witness report. The lawyer, noting that she fears the vehicle will lose value in the future, exercised her elective rights under the Consumer Protection Law and requested the replacement of the vehicle with a flawless new one and called on the Ministry of Trade.

DEALER AND COMPANY DEFENSE: "PRODUCTION STANDARD"

Officials from the Hyundai dealer, which is the focus of reactions, argued that the remove-reinstall and adjustment marks seen on the hood screws could result from standard hood adjustments carried out during vehicle shipment or transport processes, and that this situation should not be considered a defect or production error. Drawing attention to Hyundai Motor Turkey's official warranty procedures, the officials stated that according to brand standards, vehicle exterior panel paint thicknesses can vary between 50 microns and 300 microns, and expressed that the process falls within factory standards.
