Mustafa Örün, who sexually assaulted 6-year-old Şirin Elmas Hanilçi in Feriköy Cemetery in Şişli, Istanbul, and then strangled her to death with a scarf, appeared before a judge for the first time.

HEAVY LIFE SENTENCE AND 51 YEARS IN PRISON

In the first hearing, Örün was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment and a total of 51 years in prison for 'deliberate murder with the intent to conceal or destroy evidence of crimes against a child and a woman', 'deprivation of liberty of a child for sexual purposes', and 'sexual abuse of a child'.

"I DIED WITH MY DAUGHTER"

After the hearing, the grieving family made statements in front of the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. The grieving mother, Yeter Hanilçi, who could not hold back her tears while speaking after the verdict, said, "My daughter, today I came face to face with the man who killed you. I couldn't look at his face, I turned my eyes away. But I turned back and looked. He killed me too, he is the murderer of our dreams, he is the murderer of children. My heart is burning, I am not living, I died with my daughter. He had no right to do such a thing."

Şirin's father, İbrahim Hanilçi, said, "The supreme justice sprinkled water. That monster did not only kill my daughter, he buried us together with my daughter. I express my endless gratitude to the supreme justice, to the Istanbul police, to the bureau chiefs, and to the child bureau chiefs. They caught my daughter's murderer. Justice has prevailed over him. When I saw my daughter's murderer, I went back to that day. I have been away from my daughter, my baby, for 65 days now. I don't know how long I will live with her memory, how long it will take for us to get better," he said. The grieving father also broke down in tears during his statements.
