On September 27, Rojin, who was last seen in footage reflected by a security camera after having dinner at the dormitory where she was staying, was found dead 18 days later on the shores of Lake Van. The worker who first saw Rojin's lifeless body on the shores of Lake Van in Molla Kasım Village spoke out.

SAD NEWS CAME ON THE 18TH DAY

Rojin Kabaiş (21), a first-year student in the Preschool Teaching program at Van YYÜ Faculty of Education, had come from Diyarbakır to Van after registering at the university and settled into the dormitory on September 25. On September 27, after having dinner at the dormitory, Rojin was seen in security camera footage wearing her tracksuit and using her phone while passing through the turnstile, and the sad news came 18 days later.

REPORT OF A BODY ON THE SHORE PROMPTED TEAMS TO ACT

On the 13th day of the search, while efforts were ongoing by the Provincial Police Department, Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Coast Guard Command, AFAD, fire department, Red Crescent, and volunteer search and rescue teams for Kabaiş, who was also found with a headscarf on the shores of Lake Van, teams were dispatched to the area upon a report of a body on the shore in the Mollakasım neighborhood of the Tuşba district. Upon examination, it was determined that the body belonged to 21-year-old Rojin Kabaiş.

MINISTER YERLİKAYA ANNOUNCED

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who made statements on his social media account, said, "Unfortunately, the lifeless body of our university student Rojin Kabaiş, who left the KYK dormitory in Van on Friday, September 27, 2024, and has been missing for 18 days, was found by our teams on the shores of Lake Van in Mollakasım Village. I pray for God's mercy on Rojin; I wish my condolences to her family, relatives, and our esteemed nation."

ROJIN'S LIFLESS BODY SENT FOR AUTOPSY

Kabaiş's lifeless body was taken to the forensic medicine institution for autopsy after the examination conducted at the scene.

WORKER WHO FOUND ROJIN'S LIFLESS BODY SPOKE

Rojin Kabaiş's lifeless body was found by Mehmet Emin Ankay (60), who came to water the garden in Mollakasım neighborhood. Ankay, who is engaged in construction work, stated that he noticed the dark shape on the shore while he was at a summer house belonging to a friend near the beach. He mentioned that when he approached and realized it was a female body, he immediately reported it to the gendarmerie, saying, "It was around 14:10. I noticed the dark shape. When I realized it was a body as I got closer, I immediately called the authorities."
