The first session of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), started at 10:15 today, with 2 million 425 thousand 560 candidates applying nationwide. Candidates arriving at exam centers from early morning entered the halls with their identification and exam entry documents. The youngest candidate is 16 years old, while the oldest is 87.

EXCITING WAIT IN FRONT OF SCHOOLS
While candidates sweated in exam halls, families began waiting excitedly around the schools. The exam marathon, where millions of young people across Turkey are competing for their university dreams, is being held under intense security measures.
TWO SESSIONS WILL BE HELD TOMORROW
The second session of YKS, the Field Proficiency Tests (AYT), will be held at 10:15 tomorrow. 1 million 628 thousand 200 candidates will participate in AYT. The third and final session of the exam, the Foreign Language Test (YDT), will take place at 15:45 tomorrow.
RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON JULY 22
According to the ÖSYM calendar, YKS results are expected to be announced on July 22, 2026. Following the announcement of the results, the preference process will begin for candidates.
YOUNGEST CANDIDATE 16, OLDEST CANDIDATE 87 YEARS OLD
ÖSYM President Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy announced that the youngest candidate for the exam is 16 years old and the oldest candidate is 87 years old. Additionally, it was reported that 20 thousand 158 candidates aged 50 and over applied for the exam.
EXTENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi announced that within the scope of YKS precautions, 44 thousand 886 personnel and 6 thousand 907 teams are on duty at 11 thousand 883 schools. It was stated that security measures will be implemented at the highest level during the exam.
