In the statement released after the critical National Security Council (MGK) meeting chaired by President Erdogan, the importance of clearing Syria from terrorist organizations was emphasized. Regarding the "normalization" efforts between the two countries, it was stated that support will continue towards achieving a genuine social consensus that includes all parties in Syria.

The National Security Council meeting, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has ended. The meeting at the Presidential Complex lasted for 2 hours and 45 minutes. Following the meeting, a written statement consisting of 9 points was made.

Here is the 9-point statement made after the NSC meeting;

"1. Information was provided to the council regarding the operations carried out with determination, resolve, and success against all threats and dangers to our national unity, security, and well-being, particularly the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and ISIS terrorist organizations, both domestically and internationally, as well as recent international developments.

2. The stage reached in the fight against FETO, the perpetrator of the July 15 betrayal, and the steps to be taken in the upcoming period were evaluated; unwavering determination was emphasized for the complete eradication of the terrorist organization that engages in all kinds of heinous acts under the influence of hostile forces against Turkey and tries to exonerate itself under the guise of victimhood.

CLEANSING SYRIAN TERRITORIES FROM TERRORISM

3. It was pointed out that our increased efforts in the fight against terrorism, together with the sincere cooperation of regional countries, will contribute to the solution of common security issues and ensure the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and prosperity of our neighboring countries, Iraq and Syria.

4. It was emphasized that support will continue to be provided for reaching a genuine social consensus that includes all parties in Syria and that attempts to sow discord and undermine the ancient friendship between the two peoples will not be tolerated; it was underlined that the cleansing of Syrian territories from separatist terrorism will primarily secure the interests and future of Syria.

ISRAEL'S ONGOING MASSACRES

5. It was stated that the Israeli government, which openly declares that it has no regard for any legal rule or humanitarian value with its massacres despite the increasing reaction of the international community, must be stopped without delay; otherwise, it was reminded that a spiral of violence that will spread to the entire region may be triggered, starting with the adjacent areas.

6. It was noted that thanks to the Cyprus Peace Operation carried out by Turkey within the framework of international treaties and as a guarantor country, the peace, tranquility, and security environment that has prevailed throughout the island for half a century has indisputably confirmed the legitimacy and success of the operation.

It was emphasized that our unwavering stance towards the resolution of the Cyprus issue, which is our national cause, based on the equal sovereignty and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people and resulting in a two-state solution, will be maintained, and the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an equal member of the international community will be sought.

7. It was stated that priority will be given to dialogue and no opportunity will be given for the exploitation of our rights, interests, and benefits in the Aegean and Mediterranean; it was expressed that uncompromising practices for the defense of our rights and interests will continue.

8. Developments in the war in Ukraine and recent diplomatic efforts were discussed; it was emphasized that there is a need to increase sincere multilateral efforts towards the establishment of a fair and lasting peace without further escalation and spreading of the war.

9. The relations developed with a long-term approach between Turkey and African countries, including Somalia, Libya, Sudan, and Niger, were evaluated; it was stated that Turkey will continue to contribute to the peace and prosperity of brotherly African peoples by fulfilling the responsibilities required for the establishment of trust and stability.
