A cat named Midas, who has four ears due to a genetic mutation, has become the center of attention on social media in Ankara.

Midas, owned by Canis Döşemeci, who has two cats named Midas and Gece, is drawing attention on social media with his four ears and heart-shaped white fur on his body due to a genetic mutation.

"VERY HEALTHY"

Döşemeci, who stated that his rarely seen four-eared cat is healthy, said, "It has never been seen in Turkey before, and only 3 or 4 have been seen in the world since 1800. This makes Midas famous. There is no obstacle to his hearing. He hears as well as normal healthy cats. His lower jaw is a bit behind and small by birth. That's why his tongue is out, but it doesn't pose a problem for eating. He is a very healthy cat. Just like us, he has only 2 ear canals but 4 ear flaps," he said.

"WE WERE SURPRISED TO SEE IT"

Döşemeci, who stated that they found Midas in a friend's garden and were surprised by his four ears, noted that Midas is a friendly and playful cat, saying, "He doesn't run away from guests who come to the house. On the contrary, he tries to get to know them and communicate. He generally loves to sit on laps in the evenings, and he sleeps during the day. He gets along very well with his friend Gece, and they constantly play together," he expressed.

"HE HAS A WHITE HEART SHAPE ON HIS CHEST"

Döşemeci expressed their surprise when they held Midas, saying, "Midas has no other health issues. In fact, his tail is broken in three places by birth, and it is small and hook-shaped compared to normal cats. We were worried if there could be a balance problem, whether he would fall while jumping from somewhere, but nothing like that happened; he is very healthy. Also, he has a white heart shape on his chest. His ears are very eye-catching, and his tongue is out, making him very cute. The heart on his chest is so charming that when he lies on his back, it takes the shape of a heart. We take his photos, and they are very well-liked," he said.

"THOSE WHO SEE HIM COME TO US"

Canis Döşemeci noted that his cat Midas is the center of attention for people, stating, "We have never encountered a negative reaction so far. He has a nice bag. We occasionally go out with him. I don't walk him on a leash because other cats or dogs might attack, or Midas might run away. But when you go somewhere and sit down, while drinking tea or coffee, everyone comes over and approaches with sympathy," he said.

Mısra Saygın, who said she saw Midas on social media, stated, "I just saw it; it was very funny. My friend showed me the photos, and I was surprised. I wondered if he was healthy, and then I saw online that he is healthy. He looks very sweet," she said.

Mert Dağlıkoç, who stated that he has been a veterinarian for 35 years and has encountered such a case for the second time, said, "I have been doing this job for years. This is my second case. It was the same again; these are anomalies. Again, he had four ears, but these are not normal ear structures; there are only ear flaps. There is an ear canal inside," he said.
