In Kilis, shocking images emerged during municipal inspections targeting opportunists who disregard citizens' health and lives. Hundreds of expired products, with expiration dates from 2016 and infested with worms, were seized on the shelves of a grocery store.
Kilis Municipality Police Department teams, which have intensified inspections on businesses that threaten public health, encountered a nauseating scene at a market in the city center. In an incident where opportunists playing with human health showed no limits, heavy sanctions were applied to the workplace.
HUNDREDS OF PRODUCTS FROM YEARS AGO ON THE SHELVES
During the meticulous inspections carried out by the police teams, the expiration dates of the products offered for sale were checked one by one. The examinations revealed hundreds of different products on the shelves that had expired years ago. It was determined that some food items had expired in 2016. Many of the collected products were found to have insect infestation and maggots inside their packaging.
STRIKING FINDING FROM THE POLICE: THEY PUT THEM BACK AFTER INSPECTION
Responding to citizens' justified reactions such as "Why aren't inspections being done when there are such old products?", police authorities stated that the problem was not due to a lack of inspections but to the malicious intent of the business owner.
A police officer at the scene summarized the situation, saying, "As seen in our records, this workplace is frequently inspected by us. However, it is assessed that the business owner stores old-dated products in the warehouse during inspections and puts them back on the shelves for sale after we leave."
PRODUCTS DESTROYED, ZERO TOLERANCE MESSAGE DELIVERED
Teams that immediately intervened in the business that played with public health confiscated hundreds of expired and maggot-infested products and safely destroyed them. An administrative fine was imposed on the business owner under the Misdemeanor Law.
Authorities emphasized that no initiative threatening the health of citizens would be tolerated and announced that food inspections across the province would continue relentlessly and without compromise.
