THE MINISTER SAID "WE WILL NOT PARTICIPATE"

Iranian Sports Minister Ahmad Donjamali stated that it would not be possible for them to participate in the tournament due to the current security situation and tensions with the USA.
In his statement, Donjamali said, "We have no intention of participating in the World Cup after this corrupt government killed our leader."

The Iranian National Team accused the USA in a statement made on social media. In the statement, which also tagged FIFA President Gianni Infantino, it was emphasized that the World Cup is an international organization and no country can exclude Iran from the tournament.
The statement included, "FIFA is the governing body of the World Cup, not a country or an individual. The Iranian National Team earned the right to participate in the tournament on the field. No one can expel Iran from the World Cup."
