He posted one job ad after another, raising the salary up to 100 thousand liras, but still couldn't find a cook to work during the tourism season. While Atıf Çiçek, who operates a facility at Karagöl in the Şavşat district of Artvin, saw his search for staff end without results, the situation once again highlighted the shortage of qualified workers in the tourism sector. Çiçek commented on the situation, saying, 'In my opinion, there is no job problem in our country; there is a problem of job selection. Even though we offer a salary of 100 thousand TL, we cannot find a cook.'

Atıf Çiçek, who operates a facility at Şavşat Karagöl, one of Artvin's tourism centers, began searching for a cook due to the increased intensity during the summer season. Despite posting ads on various platforms and offering a salary of 100,000 TL for an experienced cook, he stated that he could not find the employee he was looking for.

INTENSITY INCREASED, STAFF NEED GREW

At Şavşat Karagöl, which hosts many visitors especially in the summer months with its natural beauties, tourism activity has also increased the staff needs of businesses.

Atıf Çiçek, who operates a facility in the region, started looking for an experienced cook to work in the kitchen due to the increasing customer density. Çiçek, who posted job ads consecutively on various platforms, stated that despite his search, he could not get positive results.

100,000 TL SALARY DID NOT SOLVE IT EITHER

Çiçek, who raised his salary offer to 100,000 TL to find a cook, stated that despite this, the applications did not meet his expectations.

Expressing that they have difficulty finding experienced staff despite the high salary offer, Çiçek said that kitchen staff becomes critical for businesses, especially during the busy period of the tourism season.

“THERE IS NO JOB PROBLEM, THERE IS A JOB CHOSING PROBLEM”

Evaluating the staff shortage he experienced, Atıf Çiçek made a remarkable assessment regarding working life in Turkey.

Çiçek said, “In my opinion, there is no job problem in our country, there is a job choosing problem. We cannot find a cook even though we offer a salary of 100,000 TL.”

STAFF SEARCH CONTINUES IN THE TOURISM SECTOR

This situation in Şavşat Karagöl has brought back to the agenda the need for qualified staff that the tourism sector faces, especially during the summer months.

While businesses in the region, where visitor density increases, continue their search for experienced employees to maintain service quality, it is stated that even high salary offers are not enough to close the staff gap in some positions.
