They opened fire on the woman's husband, claiming they wanted to forcibly take her under the pretext of being civil police.

The shocking incident took place in the heart of Istanbul, in Ataşehir. Two suspects terrorized a couple by introducing themselves as civil police.

THE SUSPECTS WERE CAPTURED IN A SHORT TIME

The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 17, in the Aşık Veysel neighborhood of Ataşehir, around 4:25 PM on Mustafa Kemal Street. Şeyda Şahin (31), who is five months pregnant, was walking on the street when the suspects, T.A.B (37) and E.B.B. (38), approached her, claiming to be civil police and asking her to take them to a woman named Gülcan Öztürk. Realizing they were not police, Şeyda Şahin said she did not know the person they mentioned and entered a store to call her husband. A dispute broke out between her husband İbrahim Şahin, who arrived at the scene, and the suspects. Then, one of the suspects shot İbrahim Şahin in the left leg with a gun he had with him. The bullet hit the phone in Şahin's pocket. The suspects, who were found to be brothers, T.A.B and E.B.B, fled the scene. Upon notification, a large number of police and ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene. İbrahim Şahin, who was injured, was taken to Göztepe Hospital, while the suspects were captured and detained by the Ataşehir Public Order Teams at a shop operated by T.A.B and E.B.B. Şeyda Şahin and her husband İbrahim Şahin recounted the moments.

"THE BULLET HIT THE PHONE"

İbrahim Şahin, who was shot in the leg, said, "Yesterday, around 3:30 PM, my wife was harassed by a person following her from behind. He introduced himself as a civil police officer. He said, 'You have to come with me.' A shopkeeper who was nearby said this was not right, and the police said he should show his ID. He replied, 'There is no problem, I am a police officer, I will not show my ID.' After that, since the shopkeeper stood up for my wife, the so-called civil police left. I went to the scene later. I saw that person where I was shot. Then I approached him and said, 'Since you are a civil police officer, show me your ID. Don't mess with me, it will end badly for you.' I said, 'That person is my wife, she is pregnant. No matter what, an explanation can be made to me; if you are a police officer, show your ID. If not, explain why.' A dispute broke out between us, and we fought. The person who shot me pulled out his gun without any hesitation. When I saw him draw his gun, I grabbed for it. It hit my front pocket. Thankfully, I had my phone there, and it hit the phone. Phone fragments, along with the impact, broke the large bone in my leg. I will undergo surgery within five days. I do not know the person," he said.

"I HAD TO SEEK REFUGE IN THE BOUTIQUE"

Şeyda Şahin said, "I entered the boutique. My husband left me there. I had to seek refuge in the boutique. I couldn't go outside. After hearing the gunshots from outside, I lost my composure. I was confused about what to do. It happened all of a sudden. I was on my way to visit a relative for tea. Suddenly, a gentleman came up to me and said, 'I want you to take me to a person named Gülçin Öztürk or Gülcan Öztürk.' He insisted and pressured me. I said, 'Sir, I don't know you, who are you?' He insisted that I take him. Then he told me he was a civil police officer. I asked, 'But sir, I don't know you, do you know me?' He didn't answer whether he knew me or not. The shopkeeper was too scared to do anything. One shopkeeper came out to the door and said, 'What's going on, brother?' The man replied, 'It doesn't concern you, brother.' The man went back inside out of fear. I said I was pregnant. He said, 'Your being pregnant doesn't concern me.'

"THEY SHOT HIM IN THE LEG"

Okan Ayvalıtaş, a shopkeeper, said, "While waiting at the door, I saw two people talking. They were talking a bit heatedly. I didn't understand what was happening. I thought it was just a normal conversation between them. Then my girlfriend, who was in the shop, came to check. She had left her husband inside, the person who was involved in the incident. She came inside and left her husband. Then she went out the door. At that moment, the incident had already occurred. They shot him in the leg, I think. When I came, I saw on the camera footage that the people I saw at my door were the ones who did it. Coincidentally, the bullet also hit his phone," he said.

"THE MAN COLLAPSED"

Gencol Azizoğlu, who works at the car wash where the incident occurred, said, "I was filling the foam from there. Someone came up behind us, and we heard a gunshot. We looked back and didn't understand what was happening. When we looked, we saw there were three people." Hızır Çoban also stated, "There was a gunshot. The man collapsed. It was very professional," he said.
