In inspections conducted by municipal police teams in Hatay, it was discovered that expiration date information on expired products had been covered with black tape. While the business found to be operating contrary to regulations was sealed, the business owner's defense, 'They brought it incorrectly,' drew attention.
In an inspection conducted by municipal police teams in the Dörtyol district of Hatay, an unusual method was uncovered. The teams, who inspect businesses to ensure citizens have access to healthy food, detected that the expiration date information on expired products had been covered with black tape.
"THEY BROUGHT IT WRONG" DEFENSE
During inspections in the Kuzuculu neighborhood, legal action was taken against businesses determined to be operating in violation of regulations. Noticing that the date portion on expired products was covered with black tape, the teams encountered the business owner's defense, stating, "They brought it wrong."
"GOOD TACTIC, I LIKE THIS METHOD"
Municipal Police Director Ali Avan reacted to the situation, saying, "Good tactic, I like this method. Let's use a bandage on expired products, so the citizen won't see the blackout and come buy them."
Avan also stated that the expiration dates of products were being tampered with, adding, "They changed it from 2024 to 2025, and that date has also passed. They painted over it. We cannot accept such fraud."
BUSINESS SEALED
Reports were filed against businesses found to be operating without a license and selling products in violation of regulations during the inspections. While some businesses, including one owned by a foreign national, were sealed, proceedings were also initiated regarding explosive materials seized at another business. Dörtyol Mayor Bahadır Amaç announced that inspections would continue uninterrupted.
