It has emerged that 27-year-old special education teacher Ann Margaret Bacon in the US rented a hotel room at least 4 times to have a relationship with her 18-year-old male student. The teacher, who said the relationship began after the student's graduation, confessed the truth after hotel photos and messages on the phone came to light. Bacon was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 2 years of probation.

It has emerged that 27-year-old Ann Margaret Bacon, who works as a special education teacher at Tartan High School in Oakdale, Minnesota, USA, had a relationship with her 18-year-old male student.

It was determined that Bacon rented a room at the same hotel at least four times in order to meet her student. It was established that the teacher stayed at the hotel during the holiday periods of May 8, June 4, June 11, and July 4.

In her statement to police, Bacon said she was living in the basement of her family's home at the time and admitted that she booked hotel rooms several times to be with her student.

SHE FIRST DENIED IT, THEN CONFESSED WHEN PHOTOS EMERGED

In 2024, after the school administration and the police officer assigned to the school reported the situation to law enforcement units, an investigation was launched.

In her initial statement, Bacon claimed that her relationship with her student began one month after graduation. However, when a photo of them together at the hotel emerged, this statement lost its validity.

A witness heard during the investigation said she learned of the relationship between the teacher and the student at the beginning of May, and that the young man was still in Bacon's class at that time.

The witness said she reported the situation to the school administration in July but had no evidence, and because she was concerned about Bacon continuing to teach, she made another report in February.

THE STUDENT'S EX-GIRLFRIEND FOUND THE MESSAGES

The statement of the student's ex-girlfriend also played an important role in the investigation.

The young woman said her boyfriend wanted to take a break from their relationship in May, and during this period he began secretly seeing his teacher.

When they got back together in August, she found sexually explicit messages and nude photos with Bacon on her boyfriend's phone.

The phone also contained footage of the teacher drinking alcohol with the student and his friends in a hotel room.

IT WAS ALSO INVESTIGATED THAT SHE PROVIDED ALCOHOL TO STUDENTS

It also became a subject of investigation that Bacon supplied alcohol to other students who came to the hotel room.

The teacher denied buying alcohol for the youths. However, when asked about a $40 payment sent to her via Venmo in June with the note "liqq," which suggests alcohol, she said she did not remember who sent the money or what it was for.

SHE ADMITTED THE RELATIONSHIP BEGAN DURING THE STUDENT PERIOD

In the later stages of the investigation, Bacon admitted that her relationship with the student began while the young person was still in her class.

She stated that their relationship ended in July, that they began seeing each other again in November, but that they were no longer together when she was questioned by police.

The student also confirmed in his police statement that they were dating Bacon and that he stayed at the house the teacher had newly moved into.

Although the young man was 18 at the time of the relationship, Minnesota law considers sexual intercourse between teachers and their students to be a crime due to the relationship arising from their professional position.

SIX MONTHS IN PRISON AND TWO YEARS OF SUPERVISED PROBATION

Ann Margaret Bacon pleaded guilty to the third-degree charge of prohibited sexual intercourse due to her professional position.

At the hearing held on Monday, the former teacher was sentenced to 180 days in prison followed by two years of supervised probation.

According to the court ruling, Bacon may serve her prison sentence under house arrest with an electronic ankle bracelet.
