In the Bayrampaşa district of Istanbul, suspects who cut off a car stole 7 kilograms of gold, 35 thousand euros, and bags belonging to individuals in the vehicle. The suspects, who fled in the vehicle they came in, were caught in a short time as a result of police work. While the moment of the robbery was reflected on security camera, 12 suspects were referred to the courthouse. Photos emerged of the suspects posing with the money they stole.

In Istanbul’s Bayrampaşa, the path of 3 citizens who set out to go to their workplaces was blocked by two separate vehicles; 7 kilograms of gold worth approximately 46.6 million lira and 35 thousand euros were robbed. 12 suspects who organized via WhatsApp and posed with the money they stole after the robbery were caught; however, only a small portion of the millions of lira worth of wealth robbed in the operations could be found.

THEY BLOCKED THE ROAD WITH TWO VEHICLES AND ROBBED 46.6 MILLION LIRA

The incident occurred on September 30 in Cevatpaşa Neighborhood of Bayrampaşa. According to the report by Habertürk reporter Mustafa Şekeroğlu, 3 people set out by vehicle to go to their workplaces with the gold and money they had with them.

The vehicle carrying the victims, who were in motion, was forcibly stopped by two different vehicles. 7 suspects who got out of the vehicles forcibly took 7 kilograms of gold worth approximately 46 million 600 thousand lira, 35 thousand euros, and the victims’ personal bags, and fled the scene in the vehicles they came in.

12 PEOPLE DETAINED

After the robbery, teams from the Istanbul Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate Robbery Bureau Office and the Intelligence Branch Directorate launched an investigation. Police teams, who conducted extensive field research and technical examination in the area where the incident occurred, identified the vehicles the suspects escaped in and their identities.

As a result of the technical and physical surveillance carried out, in addition to the 7 suspects who personally blocked the vehicles and carried out the robbery, 5 more people directly linked to the incident were identified. In the operations organized by the teams, a total of 12 suspects were caught and detained.

THE MILLIONS ROBBED AND THE AMOUNT SEIZED

In return for the 7 kilograms of gold worth 46.6 million lira and 35 thousand euros that were robbed, only 13 thousand euros, 16 thousand 250 TL, 1 unlicensed pistol, and 4 cartridges were seized in searches conducted at the suspects’ addresses.

The 12 suspects, whose interrogation and procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse.

INSTRUCTIONS VIA WHATSAPP, POSING WITH MONEY AFTER THE ROBBERY

Within the scope of the investigation, the gang’s movements at the time of the robbery and afterward were also documented with digital data. It was determined that before the robbery, the suspects sent each other their locations via WhatsApp groups to determine the meeting area. In the correspondence, it was determined that the suspects coordinated the action with the messages “The parking lot opposite,” “Did everyone get into the vehicles?” and “Let everyone write when they have passed.”

In the photographs included in the investigation file, it was recorded that some suspects, after the robbery, posed inside a vehicle with bundles of money and a pistol.

In the searches conducted, 13 thousand euros, 16 thousand 250 TL, 1 pistol, and 4 cartridges were seized. The caught suspects were referred to judicial authorities after their procedures at the police station were completed.

Meanwhile, the correspondence from when the suspects set out for the robbery and the photographs of them posing with the money they stole came to light.
