A store selling household goods in Mersin experienced a crowd surge due to discounts on aluminum basins, trays, and pans. Hundreds of products sold out within half an hour. Moments when citizens nearly trampled each other were captured by security cameras.

Due to the products sold at affordable prices in Mersin, a stampede occurred. The low prices at a store selling household goods on Kuvayi Milliye Street in the Mediterranean district led to the stampede. As the boxes were opened, citizens competed with each other to get the products. The moments of the stampede were recorded by security cameras.

CONSUMED IN HALF AN HOUR

The store owner Kadir Orhan stated that nearly a thousand aluminum basins, trays, and pans were consumed within half an hour, saying, "While the market value of the raw meatball basin varies between 155, 165, and 180 lira, we offered it for sale at 100 lira. Because of this, we received intense interest. I had difficulty opening my products; I struggled to get through the customers," he said.

"I WOULDN'T BUY IF IT WEREN'T ON SALE"

Customer Emel Karapınar said, "I bought from here because the seller is more understanding and tolerant towards customers. I wouldn't shop here if it weren't on sale. Some products that are 150 lira in other stores are a bit cheaper here. I bought from here because I found it discounted," she stated.

"WE WERE SATISFIED"

Aliye Karaağaç, who noted that the price of the aluminum basin was reasonable compared to other places, said, "Prices are very high in other places; I found it at an affordable price here. While aluminum raw meatball basins are around 275 lira everywhere, it was 100 lira here. But it's very nice; we were satisfied," she said.
