In the Safranbolu district of Karabük, three individuals who carried out a jewelry store robbery with a makeshift blank-firing gun, along with a lookout, were apprehended within 15 hours thanks to the meticulous work of the police. Those who committed the robbery had watched movies and made plans with their friends for 20 days prior to the heist.

Yesterday at around 17:40, an incident occurred on Sadri Artunç Street in the Safranbolu district of Karabük, where three armed individuals with their faces covered by masks entered a jewelry store, subdued the employees by forcing them to the ground, and escaped with approximately 20 kilograms of gold by filling two bags they brought with bracelets and nameplates from the display. The suspects, who opened fire while fleeing, were determined by the teams to have entered the Silver Canyon in the Hüseyin Çelebi neighborhood. During their investigation, they seized a quantity of gold that had been spilled on the ground and in the water, along with two firearms found in a bag.

While the teams continued their search by securing all entry and exit points of the canyon located in a deep valley, the Ministry of Interior dispatched 4 Special Operations Police teams from Çankırı to the area. The İzzetpaşa and İsmetpaşa neighborhoods were completely cordoned off by both the Special Operations Police and police officers working in Karabük and Safranbolu. The Special Operations Police, who continued their search and scanning activities until the first light of dawn in the silver truck that also contained caves, found a bag containing gold hidden in a sack among the bushes.

FIRST, THE LOOKOUT WAS CAPTURED

Meanwhile, while continuing their work in the area where the suspects fled, the police began examining the KGS and security cameras on the street where the incident occurred. In their investigation, law enforcement identified a lookout on the street directly across from the jewelry store and managed to apprehend the individual by reaching his identity and capturing him in the middle of the night. After sharing information about the suspects during the interrogation, the teams narrowed down their search, identifying one of the individuals involved in the robbery as Emre Ü. (18). The teams began operations at the locations where the identified suspect might be staying, entering an abandoned house in the İzzetpaşa neighborhood that belonged to the suspect's father. There, they found masks and other items worn by the robbers hidden between the boards in a wet condition. The teams also determined that the suspects changed their clothes after entering and exiting the canyon following the robbery, while also seizing the identity and phone of another suspect involved in the robbery, Rıza Ç. (20), which increased their search efforts in the neighborhood.

SEQUENTIAL RAIDS WERE CONDUCTED

The addresses where the robbers could hide and the abandoned houses in the area were searched through operations conducted by the police Special Operations teams and police officers. After receiving information that three individuals entered an empty house belonging to Emre Ü's grandmother in the Aşağı Tokatlı neighborhood around 08:30 in the morning, the teams quickly cordoned off the area. Emre Ü. and Rıza Ç. (21), along with his brother Cemal Polat Ç. (21), were captured while trying to escape from the house they were staying in, with their hands handcuffed and taken to the police station. Eyewitness İsmail Sönmez, who witnessed the events, stated, "The police were shouting for them to surrender. Then I saw three people being taken to the vehicle with their hands handcuffed behind their backs."

THEY HAD PREPARED FOR 20 DAYS

It was also determined that the three suspects who carried out the robbery had stayed in an abandoned house for 20 days and made their preparations there. The robbers, who were found to have stayed on the upper floor of a two-story house belonging to Emre Ü's father, which was in a dilapidated state, were discovered to have planned their escape routes and areas for 20 days, and it is emphasized that the suspects were inspired by a robbery film they watched. It was also determined that they left the house they were staying in to carry out the robbery and used the canyon to cross to the other side of the stream to lose their trail. The suspects were found to have buried the last bag of gold they had in a place they had previously dug in the canyon.

SEARCHES WERE CONDUCTED WITH A DETECTOR

On the other hand, an attempt was made to find the gold that fell in the area where the robbers passed while escaping and the area they entered the canyon with a gold detection device brought by the owners of the jewelry store. The gold found in the area where the suspects entered the canyon was collected by the crime scene investigation teams. Meanwhile, the police Special Operations teams, crime scene investigation teams, and police officers continued their detailed search and scanning activities in the area.
